I tried searching to see if anyone else has mentioned this. Since recent updates, I’ve noticed that when I go into previously saved projects, some settings are now changed and “saved” as if I had set and saved them like that previously. The most glaring one is the Top Shell Layers on every project I’ve opened has been changed from 3 to 4.
Has anyone else noticed changes in settings or know what may have caused this?
Edit: Checking this out further, it doesn’t matter what I set the Top Shell Layers to in the slicer, it always slices 4 top layers minimum. If you go over 4 then it slices fine but choosing 1-3 always creates 4 layers.
Check your Top shell thickness setting. By reducing it to be the same as the layer height and setting Top shell layers to 1, I was able to get 1 top layer when sliced in Bambu Studio V 1.08.02.56
I also tried Top shell layers to 2 and get 2 layers when sliced, It appears that the Top shell layers can’t be set to a number that would result in a top layer thinner than the Top shell thickness setting except that Top shell layers set to 0 will result in no top layer without regard to the Top shell thickness setting.
Thanks. Sure enough it was changed to 1mm. I guess this was another setting that was somehow forced into all of my saved projects when I open then. Well, I guess the change is actually in the custom print profile. Looking at all the default profiles, they all have 1mm now too.
It does make sense.
Might be helpful if the number of layers is not possible due to thickness setting that a warning message would be provided. There are so many settings and it’s not always clear that one setting will not give the desired result because of another setting.
I’d swear it used to be like this or maybe it was a different slicer. But if you had a value in one, the other setting would gray out and be ignored. Since they are both doing the same thing in a different way, it makes no sense to have them both active. The Bottom Shell thickness is still at 0mm as the top should be by default.
