I have a 2 colour part I am trying to print in BL Carbon Fibre with red PLA accents, when I load the Carbon Fibre it goes in fine but then when I go to print it unloads it and then tries to re-load it but won’t grip the filament.
I tried removing it from the project and replacing it but the same thing happened.
Does anyone know what is happening here?
If I can’t solve this I might recess the red accents on the part and print them separately and try printing the PLA/CF from the spool holder.
The WIKI claims the PLA/CF is compatible with the AMS, but when I start the print I get the warning about it being brittle and may snap, I dried it for six hours to try and minimise the chance of it snapping for it then to not to play nicely with the AMS.
Does anyone have any tips for using this filament?
Something to do with the nozzle diameter ?
I’ve found out that the Blue tubing that was sent as an *extra part is too small/sticky for Carbon PLA. Also printing wise you need to print slower for the Nozzle to “keep up” > Better quality prints with no holes, since Carbon Fiber seems to Tear easily. And I think it always gives you a warning when you print with PLA-CF. I also think there is an option to tell it never to remind you again.
Is that blue tubing Capricorn? If so it is a slightly smaller inner diameter than the stock one although I think Capricorn sell one version which is the same as the stock inner diameter Bowden tube.
I didn’t get as far as actually printing as the filament would not load, I have changed the slot number in the AMS and it works OK now but it took trying the other two slots until slot 4 worked, I was getting worried as I have bought 6 rolls of Nylon, PETG, PLA Carbon Fibre filament.
I tried all the other slots of the AMS and finally got it to load correctly in slot 4 and it printed just fine with no binding up, I am only using the X1C to print the PLA/CF as the part has an additional colour accent, normally I use one of my other machines to print Carbon Fibre filament.
Thanks for the advice!
When I had problems with my PLA-CF in the beginning I took apart my AMS to find one of my other Filaments had snapped at the AMS funnel when it was being pulled out (bad filament my fault not Bambu) otherwise changing the Bowden tube out was what made the difference for me. When I ordered my printer I didn’t see an option for a different Diameter tube, and you’d think the guys putting together my order would say; Wait a Minute… But who knows
The Blue tubing is capricorn. I checked and its one of their TL colors for abrasive prints. But when I try to insert the PLA-CF through it I cannot, by hand, push it through. Now on their website in the item description they say the Inner Diameter is 2.0 but on the website when they talk about the tubing they say its 1.75. I don’t know which one it’s supposed to be, but I guess it doesn’t matter until I need new tubing.
