Carbon Filter in the Printer

Hi,

I sadly have to use my printer in my office room. So I try to only print non toxic filament. The X1C and the P1S do have a carbo filter, so those toxic fumes are filterd out.
I read, that the filter isn’t really effectiv for that, because there is still a gap between the cartrige and the frame.

Would it help to put a tape around the cartrige, so it seals better against the frame?

I kinda want to print ASA or even ABS…

The issue with the Bambu filter is that it pulls air from the chamber and exhausts it through the filter. For filaments that do not require a high chamber temp this works. For filament like ASA and ABS you want to keep the chamber temp high and drawing in outside air will cool the chamber/part. For these filaments you might consider getting/making a Bento box filter which filters the air inside of the chamber and recirculates it.

Like Jon said, a Bento Box would be a good start and you can print it out of PETG to start. Even more you could purchase a complete kit from Voxelpla.

From there you can find a few TPU seals for the door on Makerworld. You’ll want to keep the printer door closed and the top sealed as well.

You can also find filters that attach to back of the printer over the vent, these use HEPA and Carbon as the bento does. They’re ok, will cut down a little. If you’re only going to do one or the othere than the bento is the best bet.

So, would you say, that I could print ASA indoor with it?

Sure, just in a ventilated room. Don’t print in a closet.
