Cautionary Text Regarding Panda Touch

So, I was looking on Amazon yesterday night to see if Bambu Lab had any items for sale and came across this cautionary text from BIQU relating to the Panda Touch.
I don’t know exactly when Bambu Lab rolled out their firmware update, 01.08.00.00 and then promptly pushed out 01.08.01.00 due to issues with 08.00 but seems like 4 weeks or so back.
I read that as the Touch is already out of date AND they’ll update the Touch firmware whenever

Actually, the panda touch can work past FW 1.07 but anything beyond will render all commands inoperable (you can still monitor) unless you select developer mode and LAN Only Mode on FW1.08 and beyond or stay with FW1.07. Problem is if you want to purchase a AMS2 or AMS HT you need firmware 1.08.00.00 so will kill panda touch commands unless going LAN only mode of course

I bought one for same reason that most people probably buy a Touch. The touchpad that comes with the P1 is pretty low-end.
It did not impress me. I ditched it after about a day, cleaned up an old Samsung tablet I have and installed Bambu Handy on tablet. Bought a tablet mount and mounted Samsung tablet at printer. Way better than the Touch and Bambu Lab manages the firmware, not BIQU

Those are a lot of assumptions when BIQU tells you up front they only guarantee Touch functionality through 01.07.00 which is already in the rearview mirror on up to date machines.

Actually authorization control was added in 01.08.02.00, so anything below should work. I don’t have panda touch yet to verify, but according to one user on github it does in fact work.

Yes, unfortunately, I had a panda touch, I updated my p1s, and it just didnt work anymore, however, I wasnt impressed with it either

Authorization control was added in 1.08.05, so firmware 1.08.02 should also work,

i’m doubtful that BTT did any deep dive into BL firmware as such.
What is more likely to have happened is that BTT acquired a P1 printer when 01.07 was current and built the Touch using that Bambu Lab P1 series printer and coincidentally happened to be what was on the printer at the time.

This cautionary note is on the Amazon Panda Touch page as of today, July 25, 2025.

  • 【Compatibility】Panda Touch(V1.0.7) is compatible with Bambu-Lab(=BL) printers firmware versions up until: P1P/S>01.07.00.00, A1/A1 Mini>01.04.00.00, X1C>01.08.02.00, X1E>01.01.02.00. Some features of X1C/X1E may be affected by the authorization mechanism of BL, but you can remain them in Lan-developer mode (Check btt wiki web for details). We will monitor all beta firmwares of BL printers and get you informed via our social channel. Warr-anty DOES NOT cover function lost by a firmware update.

I wrote this particular post on May 29, 2025 so almost two months ago. But the issue was known before May 29.
As of today I would take the continued cautionary note as BTT saying take it or leave it. We are not going to update the Panda Touch firmware beyond 01.07.00. and the warranty does not apply if you have more recent firmware.

If someone has got a brand spanking new P1 printer they bought within the last few weeks can you say what firmware it came with? Mainly if it was at greater than 01.07 when you pulled it out of the box.
