So I had a bit of a disastrous print on my P1S, during which the nozzle separated and the ceramic heater wires sheared off. The print itself was a relatively simple 10 cm diameter coaster in PLA silk.
I’m not sure what would cause the nozzle tip to separate in the first place (unless it was faulty or had a previous impact and the filament pushed it off?) but I had gotten an abnormal nozzle temperature error followed by the print head cover error, which of course checked out once I saw the carnage.
Support may take a few days to get back to me, and a new assembly will take at least a week (unless they expedite for warranty items). I can’t safely fix the ceramic heater, but are there any third-party options for the P1S? Until my A1 Mini arrives, this is the only printer I’ve got.
Also, any ideas as to how this might occur, outside of a faulty part?
just order another fully hotend, support will take a while from my experience, so if you need to get printed ASAP you should order another hotend on yourself, in general i would have one or 2 as spare, you never know if your nozzle get clogged or the heater fails
Definitely looks like a faulty hotend to me, hopefully BBL sends you a new complete assembly. It is annoying that the camera stops recording right when you need it to. I had one the other day, the nozzle just stopped about 3 hrs into a 7hr print, LAN only mode, no apparent failure cause, screen said print finished but the bed was still on at 65°c hours later. The last time-lapse stops right before the failure
Took the advice here and ordered a bunch of stuff this morning. Had meant to do that a few weeks ago but just never got around to it, and probably wouldn’t have thought to get the ceramic heaters anyway. Wish there were an expedited shipping option tho!
Support was quick to respond, but their follow-up wasn’t entirely clear, and it sounded like they were intending to replace the hotend (not the full assembly, which I’d need), barring further discussion.
