Change A1 retrofit option

I picture a 30 something single slob that lives in his moms basement every time I see a post like this, no one cares that you’re selling your printers and throwing a fit because you think taking pictures of a simple cord swap is just too hard. People in this thread crack me up. These are 3d printers, you will eventually have much harder problems to diagnose or repair than this cord. I’d suggest anyone that thinks this is too hard of a repair to sell their printer and buy a cricut.

I don’t think he is concerned that it is too difficult, but that he will not receive his voucher if he does not have the installation checked by a qualified electrician. The inspection will cost more money and this was not previously communicated by Bambu Lab.

And by the way…
I see a picture of an offended 3d print nerd who is annoyed that beginners can now use 3d printers.

Ok, got a response from Bambu to my “proof” pictures. They asked me to retake the picture of the back of printer. That’s the one with the serial number tag, rubber wall bumper, and heat cable. They said the serial number was “blurry”. I don’t own a studio quality camera so I hope the re-shoot will do the trick.

I don’t want to think this is their way of denying the $120 credit. As in no picture will ever be good enough. We shall see.

The pictures are so Bambu can check that you did it right. Changing this cord isn’t rocket science. I’m glad beginners can use these printers, gives more entertainment on here when they have simple problems and turn them into mountains. I mean come on, taking pictures is hard.

You didn’t understand the problem. Neither the cable exchange nor the photos pose a problem for anyone here

Maybe you don’t understand what it takes to do the repair “a skilled person”. Do you consider yourself that? If so, you can do it! Take pictures when done and send them to bambu. WOW that was hard!

It seems to me that you can’t read:

The problem most people have here is that Bambu Lab requires users in the EU to provide proof of testing by a specialist with appropriate training / certification, which means that in the EU you have to take the device to a company that will test the device, which costs money again.

Otherwise there is neither the voucher nor a product warranty

You can continue to make fun of yourself here, but you simply haven’t understood what this is all about. It’s about money, liability and time. Not about people not daring or not skilled enough.

no where did they say it requires a specialist, they require it to be repaired under that code. Read the BN blah blah number, It refers to skilled person, not certified person. If you work on these things and feel comfortable doing the repair, you are a skilled person. You can do it. Not that hard to figure out. That is why they are requiring the pictures for verification of your skilled repair. But yeah join in with the crowd of whiners that probably never should have agreed to doing the repair themselves anyways. Its a simple repair, if you mess it up you deserve your darwin award.

As I already wrote, you don’t seem to be able to read or you don’t have the necessary intelligence to understand what you have read.

For European customers, once the “do it yourself part” of the heatbed replacement process (steps 1-4 above) is completed, a test needs to be conducted by an Electrically Skilled Person in terms of the European harmonized standard EN 50678 (General procedure for verifying the effectiveness of the protective measures of electrical equipment after repair) or any applicable local equivalent standard (unless you yourself are qualified as such an Electrically Skilled Person). Before connecting the A1 PRINTER with a power source and switching it on again, the A1 PRINTER should be checked by an Electrically Skilled Person within the meaning of EN 50678, or under any applicable local equivalent standard. Once the test has been completed successfully, the process needs to be documented in accordance with the same technical standards, e.g. by the Electrically Skilled Person using the following form (or any applicable local equivalent)

Excerpt from the EN 50678 standard:

Who is allowed to carry out the device test according to DIN VDE 0701-0702 (EN 50678)?

The device test according to DIN VDE 0701-0702 may only be carried out by a “competent person”.

The device test according to DIN VDE 0701-0702 and the [electrical test] (Elektroprüfung - DGUV Vorschrift 3) according to DGUV regulation 3 (formerly BGV A3 test) may only be carried out by an electrician.

The electrician should have a classic electrotechnical training or a degree in electrical engineering in order to carry out the electrical examination according to [DGUV] (Prüfung nach DGUV A3 - DGUV Vorschrift 3) regulation 3 (former BGV A3 examination). It can also be carried out by a so-called “electrotechnically instructed person (EuP)” or even the user to carry out the electrical test according to DGUV regulation 3 (former BGV A3 test).

However, EuP or users must act under the guidance and instruction of the qualified person. If the electrical test is carried out internally according to [DGUV regulation 4] (DGUV Vorschrift 4 - DGUV Vorschrift 3), the operator must appoint a qualified person in the company.

This test subject must have at least one year of professional experience in the field of electrical engineering and regularly participate in further training so that the most up-to-date technical status is always guaranteed. The qualification and further training must be proven in writing and must be monitored by the operator.

Furthermore, the operator is obliged to provide appropriate certified measuring and testing equipment if the electrical test according to DGUV Regulation 3 (formerly BGV A3 test) is carried out by an internal employee.

You are acting under the guidance and instruction of the manufacturer, How much more qualified can you be to work on it than the one to make it?

Just received an email from BL that my bed has been shipped & will be delivered via DPD here in the UK.

Same.

As an update BL seem to be implying that we just need to send the pictures and that the safety test is just something you ‘should’ do. It doesnt seem compulsory and shouldn’t affect the warranty or voucher code.

My replacement bed is here, I’ll get around to fitting it over the weekend. Not in a massive rush as my original bed does not have the fault and works flawlessly.

anyone else’s bed tramming screw(front right) too high? and wont go any lower?

Might be cross threaded, back it out and re-thread it…

problem sorted, screw was slightly cross threaded but ive swapped it out for a screw from the old bed. Bed is now properly trammed. Thanks

I just had the same issue.

Ended up loosening the front side screw too much to try and relieve it and the side screw came right out.
This helped though as I could see only half the hole when trying to put it back in, this meant I had to loosen the right front bed screw.

I ended up loosening them all a lot more than the help file says.

Now I could get the front side screw back in.

Did the tramming procedure without issue then.

as an update…

  • I received a reply to my ticket over a week ago (been busy)
  • I had read a useful post elsewhere in this forum, referring to a BSI page that the standard was no longer applicable, so had thought I would be happy to make changes myself (I’ve built a ProForge 2S from scratch).
  • My fault I didn’t update ticket, it seems unfair to muck Bambu about…
  • So just about to pack and send back

All in all, the communication has been a little disappointing, but I’m happy enough with BBL.

My initial thought was to buy and identical new A1/AMSlite. It seems they will be order-able very shortly.

Have others in a similar position considered alternatives?
If so what and why?

It’s actually back in store
