can someone please assist an old man. how can i change the colour of the number on this piece using ams, assistance appreciated
when you are looking at the model in bambu studio, select the object and then press a number 1-4 to the slot in the ams that you want to use.
There are three ways:
I assume you have at least two colours listed in the filament selector in the prepare tab.
-
If the are separated parts in a merged model
If the base and number are two different parts merged into a single one, in the prepare tab, swap to the objects view and navigate to the model, expand it to show the parts.
Select the number object and change the colour by pressing the swatch colour on the right so it shows swatch selected, press space and choose the alternative colour.
-
Use the Preview tab to add a change filament command
Slice your model from the prepare tab, you are taken to the preview tab which shows you a vertical slider on the right, this is the layer slider.
Drag the top marker down to the layer you wish the colour to start on.
Right-click the bar and select change filament.
Choose the filament colour you wish the number to use.
Slice again, you will notice the layer bar shows one colour below your choice and another above your choice, the preview should also show you the correct colouring.
Now print.
-
Use a layer height modifier
Selected the model.
Right-click the model and select layer height modifier.
If you are not taken there automatically, navigate to the prepare tab object list and select your model.
Expand the model to reveal the layers group and select “layers”.
Set the bottom and top points in mm hat you wish to colour.
Assuming the number starts at 20mm and ends at 30mm (use your own values), enter 20mm the first box and 30 in the second box.
You can add as many of these as you need for as many layer ranges and they can even cross others. A very powerful feature to look into as it can change far more than colours within the ranges.
Select your newly displayed range and press the thumbnail, use space to open it.
Select your colour.
Slice and print.
sorry, i am printing the main body in white but would like the number to be red, when i try the change filament method it doesn’t stop to allow change
That will only change the whole model whereas the OP wants to change the colour of the top half, just the number.
Check out my answer, it shows the three different ways you can do this.
If you applied the number yourself in Studio, I’d recommend @MalcTheOracle point 1:
Locate the “Global” ↔ “Object” toggly just above the print settings, below the filament selection and switch to “Object”. You can then select the text and right click to change the filament.
If the number is already part of the model, @MalcTheOracle point number 2 is probably the quickest and easiest way for this particular object.
This is why I ordered them this way.
I love point 3 though because it can open up so many new things.
Point 1 is best if the model is built as parts.
thank you fellow printers, sorted it. so stupid, the the number on the ams i was changing it to was the same colour as the base doh!
You realise you asked a question unrelated to your problem, right?
You asked how to do something as if you have no idea where to start.
It turns out your actual question appears to have been:
Why when I choose two different colours does it print with the same colour.
However, even that seems wrong as you must have chosen two different colours on the prepare tab and then gone to print and selected (or not checked the auto determination) the same colour for both parts.
Or, you have two whites on your AMS and somehow chose one of each despite having (assuming new) two different colours in the prepare tab.
I now feel my long and detailed answer which have helped others will be lost as while it is the solution to the question you asked, it doesn’t appear to be related to the question you didn’t ask which was your actual problem.
there is a paint function in the menu, you can literally just highlight the area you want to have a 2nd colour.
I can only answer the questions as specifically as they are written, but hope it works out for ya.
Dude. You’re awesome. That makes things a LOT easier than I’ve been attempting.
