I print a lot of parts that involve fine detail, raised text printed on top of flat rectangles. To get the resolution I need for the text, I need to use a 0.2 mm nozzle for the print. Because of this, my prints take over 16 hours to complete. Most of that time is spent printing something that could be done with a 0.4mm nozzle or larger.
I would like to request a feature to be added to allow users to select a layer at which they would swap their nozzle. Much like selecting a layer to pause at.
I use an A1 so nozzle changes are not hard mid print.
If implemented, it would likely shave HOURS off of my print times. I’m sure many others would have a use for this.
This would be amazing. Quite often I am printing objects with text at the top and that is the only part I need in better quality and this would be such a time saver to be able to change the nozzle only for the top part.
It would be great if us H2D users could use 2 differently sized nozzles and choose which layers or features will print with one and which will print with the other.
I think the concern with swapping nozzles on a single nozzle unit would be handling the hot nozzles. While you’re ok with it - I don’t think Bambu would want to encourage that especially with the target market of most of their printers.
That said - I’m always a fan for having the option. I would think such a feature would probably need to come with a warning.
That said - I guess if you keep the bed hot - you’d have time to let it cool down, swap, and heat back up.
