Changing filament color for multiple items

Perhaps I’m being a dim light bulb at the moment and not seeing it or finding what I want in a forum search. It would seem like a simple thing.

I have several plates that have 10 to 20 + single color items. I have to change the color of the all item for different projects. Is there a way to SELECT ALL and then change the color for all of them or do we need to do each on individually in the object tab?

TIA

hello
do you mean in the slicer??
on the mac it is cmd+a
in Windows I mean ctrl+a
This will select all objects. Then you can use the key 1-9 to select depending on whether you have selected several filaments on the left side under the printer and buildplate selection if you have only stored one filament then press 1. Can you do something with it?

Yeah Bambu labs. I have tried ctrl+a and doesn’t seem to select all.

Sry my fault. It schuld be strg+a

Strg is Ctrl - on a german keyboard.

Try selecting one, then ctrl+a
Or right click and “select all”

Just Ctrl + a works as well but you need to be in the “prepare tab”, not “Preview”. That goes for the other methods as well.

You can also do it per plate, by right clicking a plate. Very handy sometimes.

man never stops learning☺️

@shamrockwood315, the fastest way to color multiple parts is as follows:

  1. If one part is being printed multiple times, choose your color first and then under the drop down next to ‘file’ select ‘edit’ > clone selected. (Make sure you have your part selected on the plate.
  2. If coloring multiple unique parts that are on the same build plate, switch to the ‘objects’ tab on your process menu which is set to ‘global’ by default. Under the objects tab you will see the list of all of your parts and then a column to the right of the file name listing/showing the filament color currently assigned. Click on the filament color two times and then once more to show the drop down menu for filament color options. Make sure your color options match the AMS designated slot as well. This should be all you need to do. The prepare view plate will show each part in the assigned color.

These are unfortunately 2 of the slowest ways, which the OP was trying to avoid. Read above, the methods by @the_Raz and @xsynatic are much quicker methods.

This one can be good at times though: In the mentioned list of objects, you can select several objects or a continuous range in that list. On macOS it’s command+click for picking the 2nd (and on) object(s) - can be scattered - or shift+click for selecting a continuous range. I nearly haven’t touched Windows since 2006 or so, and when I do my fingers just knows what to do, so I’m not 100% sure but I think it’s like ctrl-click and shift-click respectively. Yes, a little OT but it’s good to know.

Thanks all! I was trying to select all via ctrl-a while in the OBJECTS TAB switching over to the GLOBAL got it which ahhh :thinking:makes

I played a bit more with the color assignments in Bambu Studio today and there is something that is not clearly mentioned above in this thread that I think is sort of eluded to otherwise. You can “right click” on any part and select “change filament color” in the drop down menu there, but in order to do this you have to first move to assembly view. Assembly view is in the bar towards the top of the plate viewing area and it looks like a puzzle piece. Going into this view zooms in on the parts and then you can right click freely to change colors. This was not clear above I don’t think.

Do you know if there is a way to bulk change from this view (or any other)? Let’s say I had 30 parts at number 1 and I want to change them all to number 2 at once without either right clicking on each of the 30 parts or without clicking the drop down 30 times.

I figured it out. If I switch to Objects instead of Global then I can click on one part under the Name column and either shift or cntrl to select multiple parts. Then right click on those and I can change the filament number.

There’s an even better answer at the top of this thread. Select the items and then press 1, 2, 3, or 4 on your keyboard to switch the filament.

I’m so happy this thread exists. I knew there had to be an easier way. Like they said in the prepare window (seems to work in global or objects), select the objects you want or select them all and then press the corresponding number from the filament section.

No more selecting each one and the right clicking to change filament

There are a couple of easy ways to do this. From the preview tab, you can select all objects, from the plate, that need a color change, right click and open the “Change Filament” dropdown to select from your devices loaded filament options. Even quicker, you can skip the right click and just click the number on your keyboard that is associated to the AMS slot you want to use.

In the event you are trying to choose different filaments for parts of a multi part object, you can switch from “Global” to “Objects”. From here, you will see the different parts with their filament choses next to them. You can use shift/ctrl to select or deselect multiple sub-objects, then, again, tap the number associated to the filament you want to use.
