Changing nozzle problem

Clogged nozzle, needing to change it I’m following Bryan Vine YouTube instructions. After removing the two screws he simply pulled the hot end out. I can’t get it to budge. My machine is two months old. Is there something additional I should be doing to release the nozzle? Have unplugged the three cables and removed two screws holding nozzle.

Are you pulling the assembly down then out ?

It doesn’t come straight forward, down first then forward

Maybe the extruder is holding on to the filament is the reason you can not get the nozzle to drop down.

Push in on the filament cutter by hand or you might need to remove the extruder to inspect.

Extruder

Thank you. I wasn’t pulling down first.

Thank you pulling down got it loose. There is filament stuck in the works. I was able to cut the nozzle free. I think you are correct, filament is stuck. Will investigate how to inspect the extruder. Learning as I go.

Perfect

Now if you could print off those TPS reports that would be great

Mmmm kay ?

Glad you got it, I just happen to have many different nozzles and change them frequently

Be sure to take extra care with those white JST plugs and the thermistor wiring

I’ve got lots of spares and a JST wiring kit because I know how delicate they are but with extra care you’re golden

I was worried about touching them. I have experience with delicate wiring

I’m a commercial transport refrigeration mechanic so being delicate is not one of my talents, plus I’m left handed lol

Hence my boxes on boxes on top of teetering boxes of spare parts lol

So far I haven’t broken anything so you should be good as long as you don’t go full Johnny Rocko on your repairs🤘

As for the jammed filament

Was that feeding from an AMS or externally?

Either way a really good sort of pretrip before you feed in a spool is the bend test

If it snaps thrn it needs to be dried out

The only time I had a similar situation was printing glow in the dark filament which gets brittle very fast

It snapped on a reteaction and acted like a jam, was far easier to sort out than an actual clog or jam

Thank you! I’m also left handed. I’ve been wondering how to determine if filament is dry enough. Feeding from an AMS, with lots of desiccant inside. However, I live near the ocean. Humidity is a fact of life.

Can recommend a video for extruder inspection?

Does this help or have you already watched it ?

I am having the opposite problem, my nozzle won’t go back in, I have followed 2 videos and still can’t get it to move up so that the screw holes align

This is where I struggle as well. Every single time I change nozzles I feel it takes me 5 or 6 tries to insert the new nozzle in just the right way that the holes line up. I’m wondering if there is some trick I’m missing.

My problem was that the threaded brass inserts had become proud of the surface, I contacted my vendor and they sent out a replacement by express delivery, I was up and running the next day.
Take a photo of the inside part where the nozzle attaches inside the extruder part, you may have the same issue as I did, the nozzle should fit with no problem whatsoever.
