Charity 3D Printing for Kids at Augsburg Pediatric Oncology – Pieksekisten

Hey @protoboard :waving_hand:

thank you — I really appreciate that.

I’ll make sure everything is used with proper credit and respect for your work.

I’ll take a closer look at your models and see what fits well into the next deliveries.

Thanks again for your support :folded_hands:

You are allowed to use my mini buddies collection for the Pieksekisten!

I cannot add links but it can be found on my profile: SimplySolid3D

Another full run finished.

Both printers have been running continuously again, and we were able to prepare another batch for the next delivery.

This time:
– a new group of penguins by @3DPrinty

– and another batch of bees by @Plastic3D

As always, thank you to the designers for making these available.

Each piece will find its place in a Pieksekiste soon.
Step by step.

Hallo Pascal,

Hier noch einmal offiziell: für deine pieksekisten kannst du gerne ALLE meiner Modell benutzen. Wenn du mich als Designer nennst auf deiner Seite wäre das sehr nett.

Freundliche Grüße,

DIY Wizard

Hi Pascal, this is such a beautiful and meaningful initiative, thank you for sharing your story. I’d love to contribute in any way I can.

Please feel free to use any of my models from my MakerWorld page. I have a few flexi and fidget-style designs that, while originally made as keychains or magnets, can easily be printed as standalone toys for the kids to enjoy.

I truly hope they can bring a bit of comfort, fun, and smiles to the children during such a difficult time.

Hey @DIY_Wizard

Danke dir, Credits wurden aufgenommen

Hi @create3d.co
thank you so much for your kind words and your support – this really means a lot to us.

And also a big thank you for allowing us to use your models

Your flexi and fidget-style designs sound perfect for the kids, especially since they can be used as standalone toys – that’s exactly what we are looking for.

If it’s okay for you, it would really help me if you could also briefly confirm your permission in the main forum thread. I’m currently receiving a lot of messages, and this helps me keep everything organized and documented properly.

Thank you again for being part of this – it truly makes a difference. :folded_hands:

Update from the print farm :orange_heart:

The next models are finished and ready to become part of the upcoming Pieksekisten.

A big thank you to the designers for their amazing work and for allowing us to use their designs:

Both designs bring exactly what we hope for – something small that can create a moment of joy.

The printers keep running in the background, and little by little the next boxes are coming together.
Thank you to everyone who is supporting, contributing, or simply following along.

First print from the contest :orange_heart:

This is one of the very first test prints coming directly out of the contest.

Seeing the first submitted designs turn into real objects is something special – this is exactly what this is all about.

A big thank you to @Alkem La Forge d’Orion for this design:

This is where digital ideas start becoming something real.

And this is just the beginning.
More prints are already in progress.

Not many posts make me cry, but this, you sir have touched my heart, i will contribute to this project in any way I can

Hallo Pascal,

Hi @Steve_at_STEMK12

Thank you for your words, that really means a lot.

This project is something very personal to us, and messages like yours show us that it reaches people in the right way.

You are more than welcome to be part of this.
No matter how – every small contribution matters.

Hi @Jay_Cue

Hello everyone,

This truly means a lot to me, honestly.

I really hope this model can bring as many smiles as possible, because in a hospital, even just two minutes spent thinking about something other than pain, in a place that constantly reminds you of it, is already something precious.

Thank you so much for your feedback, and above all for your incredible kindness.

Thank you.

Hello @La_Forge_d_Orion ,

thank you for these words — they really mean a lot.

What you described is exactly what this project is about.
Even a small distraction, a short moment away from pain, can make a real difference.

It’s amazing that something created from a distance can still carry so much meaning and reach the right place.

Thank you for being part of this.

Hi James!

I’m developing something as we speak but wanted to check first about requirements/limitations before I go too far down the path.

  1. What is the maximum size? The thing I’m creating is rectangular ~70x130mm with a maximum thickness of 5mm. Think kit card but not kit card
  2. Assembly would be done by the recipient/recipient’s parents. It takes less than 30 seconds and there isn’t any leftover sprue or sharp corners. While I think the assembly is very easy and would be fairly obvious to most people, it may benefit from a small paper instruction sheet that gets included with it. I would create the instructions and a paper printer ready document. Each instruction “tag” would be roughly the size of the printed object so more than one can fit on a sheet of paper.
  3. I’m assuming multi-colour is okay? It would have 4 colours. No special filament or other parts needed. Aside from the tag, it’d be ready to give off the build plate.

I guess my biggest concern is #2 because if that’s too much trouble for you or the recipients, then I will go in a different direction

Hi @berri3D

this is really great to see – thank you for taking the time to think this through so carefully.

Regarding your questions:

  1. Size:
The box itself is roughly 220 x 170 x 200 mm (with rounded edges), so your model (70 x 130 x 5 mm) would definitely fit inside without any issues.

  2. Assembly:
    Your approach sounds very good.
Simple and quick assembly is perfect.
A small printed instruction sheet is a great idea, but not mandatory – many things are also given directly to the parents or explained on-site. So if it’s easy to understand, that’s already ideal.

  3. Multi-colour:
Yes, multi-colour is absolutely fine :+1:
I can currently print with up to 8 colours, so you have quite a bit of flexibility there.

And about your concern:
Please don’t worry too much – the fact that you’re thinking about usability already means you’re going in the right direction.

This sounds like a really thoughtful concept, I’m looking forward to seeing what you create.

:counterclockwise_arrows_button: Project Update – Current Status

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a quick update, as quite a lot has been happening over the past few days.

:puzzle_piece: Contest & Community

The contest has been running for a few days now, and the response has been really strong.

There are many models coming in, a lot of conversations happening, and you can really feel how much heart everyone is putting into this.

What stands out the most to me:
Many of you are not only thinking about what to submit, but also how to support the project in a meaningful way.

:bullseye: Keeping the Focus

One thing remains very important to me:

  • child-friendly, positive designs

  • models that are actually usable in a hospital setting

  • not focused on “winning”, but on impact

The contest is a tool – not the end goal.

:brick: Model Structure

To keep everything organized, I’m currently working on a clear structure:

  • models that are directly approved for the project

  • models that are generally suitable and a good fit

The goal is to keep everything transparent, especially when it comes to usage and permissions.

:soap: External Prints (Important Topic)

Many of you have asked if you can contribute with your own prints – and this is something I’m actively working toward.

Right now, I’m running multiple test series focused on cleaning and disinfection processes.

These tests are done with different intensities and intervals to simulate real-world handling as closely as possible.

The current results are consistently positive:

  • no structural damage

  • no loss of stability

  • no visible changes in color or surface

  • functional properties (like flexibility or glow effects) remain intact

This is a very important step, because it shows that printed parts can potentially be cleaned and handled in a safe and controlled way.

At the same time, I’ve started working on the first ideas for a structured workflow:

  • how prints would be collected

  • how they would be checked

  • how cleaning and handling would be standardized

This is not active yet, and I don’t want to rush this.

The goal is to build something that is safe, reliable, and responsible before opening it up to the community.

Once I reach a stable and clearly defined process, I’ll share more details here.

:gear: Production in the Background

At the same time, production is ongoing in the background.

The main focus here is to keep things stable and prepare the next deliveries.

 Thank You

What’s happening here is really something special.

Many of you are contributing, sharing models, or developing new ideas – and that truly means a lot to me.

:soon_arrow: What’s Next

  • reviewing more models

  • first targeted test prints

  • building a clear model structure

  • preparing the next boxes

I’ll keep you updated.

Pascal

Lieber Pascal,

Kari
