Clever and fun prints for kids --life after kits

I’m looking for something to wow my kids, or at least do something fun. We did the marble run project and they loved it. We found add ons, messed around and enjoyed.

We did the boat and tried quite a few things in tinkercad.

We’ve also done the lamp kit and really got into that with some gorgeous builds for magnets and again added our own (a lot to the mushroom house).

So what next. We’ve tried a lot of rocket/disk launcher type things, too. And we’ve done our own sort of repair stuff.

For 10 years I had a Prusia I3 Reprap that we used 99% for home repairs, fixes, useful things but now the kids are into things would like to do more than the cookie cutter/nametag/dice roller/boat/kazoo type projects.

Oh nice! I did not know they were making more kids. The train one seems awesome and right up our alley, just adaptable enough to be interesting!

yeah this one looks perfect to wow the kids ^^

I could suggest my perpetual magnetic calendar, not exactly a toy but wow effect assured!

Pardon the self promotion. Hehe! There’s lots of fun and cool toys out there. This string racer is one I made! Modeled after a toy from the 90s.

Here’s a few others I like, that I’ve come across.

Adults and kids alike enjoy playing with my Willies.

They particularly enjoy playing with OctoWilly, an articulated fidget toy with eight legs and optional heads, which converts into a keyring and a spinning top.

If you are looking for other things that can occupy minds for hours with a variety of styles, Fidget Spinners and Gyros are popular.

Do you think the string racer would print in 50%? Are there printable bearings that I could reduce? It’s just massive and a very long print on an A1 mini.

I wouldn’t use printable bearings. I found even a little resistance can really put a drag on things. I’m not sure if it could be scaled without modifying the pully wheels in some fashion for smaller bearings. Hm, I wonder though.

It might be harder to work with these but they are teeny tiny…
