If I pull the hot end, I can see the stuck PETG at the top. Heating to 250 to push through or using the hot Allen wrench to pull out doesn’t work. When I try to use the extruder to push a short length of PETG through, the extruder doesn’t make any sound when I hold the down button, as if the extruder is not coming on. The screen seems to show the filament is in the extruder, the green light comes on.
Sounds like you’ve got filament stuck in the extruder (triggering the green light), not just the hot end. Take apart the extruder and you’ll find something.
I had already cleared the extruder. To be sure, I just took it apart again and I can pass filament through it easily. Just to be clear, the LCD screen should allow me to feed a short length of filament freehand without the AMS, right? And if you press the down button in the lower right corner of the screen, the extruder should activate and make a sound?
I got my clog on the first day. I have essentially no experience with how the controls work yet.
The green light indicates that the filament sensor in the extruder is tripped.
I got it all sorted. The extruder makes practically no sound at all, which was unexpected. The LCD screen response to my fingers is erratic, and the amount of motion is very slight. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Things will get easier with a little experience.
Be sure to measure your filament’s diameter, you are getting a high amount of jams and clogs. Make sure your PETG isn’t oddly shaped or simply too big. It possible the filament roll is just out of spec.
