Clogs when switching from High Temp Materials

At my company we use the Bambu AMS as a multi-material Holder. We use different materials for different purposes and this requires us to frequently switch between materials. The Bambu generally handles this well but I have noticed a problem when switching from high temp materials like PC / PAHT-CF to lower temp materials like PLA. At the beginning of a PLA print after having previously printed PC, the Bambu does not heat the nozzle enough to purge the remaining PC which often causes a clog. What compounds the issue is that the printer usually ends up jamming the extruder with filament in its attempt to purge the PC. Unclogging the extruder requires disassembly. At this point I have done this 5 times now between our 3 three X1C printers. I would love to see a solution implemented for this.

Heat the nozzle manually and extrude some filament manually? Is that not a option? This is how I handle this “problem”.

That’s an easy solution. Simply heat the nozzle to the proper temp for PC and then feed in the PLA until you can see PLA extruding and no more PC. Turn off the hotend heater and you’re done.

I mean sure, That’s what I have been doing. But regularly clogging during material switching is not very Automatic for an “Automatic Material System.”

That’s what I have ended up doing, but it is inconvenient considering every other print is PC/PLA. It would be preferable to run the printers with as little downtime as possible, especially if manual inputs are required.

The only other option I can think of would be to add filament specific g-code under the filament settings.

If the material gets stuck in the extruder because the filament is compressed and too thick, then the top cold end of the hotend, which carries a heat sink while the filament is being changed, is too hot.

I assume you have found a solution by now. If not, ask again.

Kind regards

Hello, your topic is almost a year old but I hope it interests you.
I have the same problem but I found this:
