Cloud down again

2nd outage in last 12 hours…getting frustrating…

I just printed a file it worked! Took about 5 seconds to start the printing process.

I thought there was an outage as well but I didn’t hear any news on the forum about one. So after resetting the router, restarting the printer, etc. didn’t work I logged out of Bambu Studio, logged back in, and disconnected/reconnected device and was able to get connection back. This happened about an hour ago and hope that works for you too.

Same problem here. It’s unbelievable that a $1400 printer would rely on SD cards for printing… Very embarrassing :\

Mine started working about an hour ago…

I think they might be working out some bugs in the Slicer and firmware, when testing changes the cloud goes down so if there is an issue it doesn’t work its way into the end users Slicer

It won’t surprise me if an update to the slicer has features currently only found in the Soft Fever fork

Yes, I’m an optimistic person lol

But what I think is happening makes perfectly good sense to me and I hope I’m right because we shouldn’t have to use a fork in order to access more features in the slicer

In fact I’m leary about using the Soft Fever fork because as much as Bambu Studio is like Prusa Slicer, it is not Prusa Slicer and not open source which comes with risks when adding a fork to proprietary software as far as I’m concerned

Then again I’m not a software engineer, but I’m not the dullest knife in the drawer either :grimacing:

They really really need to make a cloud status page, and ideally build some cloud status info into Bambu Studio and Bambu Handy. More than the Help → Network Test in the slicer.

I just posted this on Reddit saying the same with a lot more words.

Last night 2/22 I had issues with prints taking about 20 min to start after I sent them. I was doing a bunch of little stuff for a home project. Was very annoying because it was slowing me down. I love the cloud technology but it needs to be more robust and stable.

@Guilherme you don’t have to rely on SD cards, you can send through Bambu Cloud or send via Wi-Fi in LAN mode. Both are accessible from Bambu Studio either “send to printer” or “print plate”

The cloud is DOWN, so that’s not an option. And switching to LAN mode is not much help since that requires making changes at the printer, so there is little benefit compared to walking over and using the SD card. I’m really not seeing any benefit to going through the cloud at all. We need full LOCAL network control.

I printed from the cloud at the same time you said it was down. Maybe it’s regional based?

Isn’t the info returned by the Help → Open Network Test in Bambu Studio not the equivalent of a cloud status page?
When I run “Test BambuLab” button the IP address it returns for Bambu is owned by Amazon which I assume is providing the cloud service we are using.

Yes and IMO that’s like a bare minimum and it’s pretty well hidden. I didn’t know about it until yesterday.

Much better would be something like this: https://www.issquareup.com or https://status.confluent.cloud.

And even better would be Bambu Studio and Bambu Handy showing a notice when the cloud is down. Rather than just silently failing.

If this is true, which I believed from the beginning, this means each availability zone within AWS would have different outages. This would explain why some say it’s down while others say they can print with no issues. My recommendation is next time we post about cloud being down we post the state we are in. This would help us as users and Bambu!

Am I the only one that doesn’t have any problems sending to the SD card to print when others say the cloud is down?

Last night I was having some issues printing from Bambu Slicer when the cloud was apparently down. I would press print plate but get no response. but I had no problem sending to SD card, then walking to printer and printing from SD card directly.

Indeed. cloud down doesn’t mean printer down.

@Matt from what I have read, apparently that is people’s frustration, they don’t want to go press print on the printer…

And looks like they did it! https://status.bambulab.com I just noticed the link to this at the bottom of bambulab.com.

Awesome! Glad they are listening to the community!
