As todays outage clearly shows once again, being forced to go through the cloud when the printer is perfectly capable of local printing makes no practical sense. When you’re on the same network (or printer is pingable from Studio), Bambu Studio should always spool locally/directly. Automatically. Without reconfiguration.
I do have use cases for the cloud where I spool to printers in remote locations. However, Bambu Studio repeatedly locked up and crashed today during the outage. Because I did not have it setup up for local printing, I could not use it at all.
This is not rocket science. It’s not hard to do. I’ve written my own stack for my own printers that does all of this. These much more sophisticated printers are certainly capable. Bambu just needs to make it a priority.
Another problem, AMS filament profiles needs to work in local mode.
I urge Bambu to consider their users and make these changes (for X* and P1* models). Bambu Studio should just work seamlessly with or without internet without requiring the user to switch to a local (needlessly) degraded mode.
