Is this all phone case designs? I have an iphone 15 pro max case design with modular hard shell I’ve been eager to upload!

*Edit: Uhmm very odd contest… Not sure how we test models to a phone we don’t physically have in our possession. Someone suggested a supplied .STEP file so we can model around that.

Good luck to everyone entering

This appears to be a hyper focused contest towards the new and thus rare Phone 1 by Nothing.

It is an intriguing new phone design that was conceived to allow third-party add-ons.

I can’t see many people in this contest at least not ones that actually own this phone.

Most people have an iPhone. Others have one of the thousands of Android variants.

This brand new phone will have such a tiny sliver of users than expecting to see the phone in the entries photos is unlikely.

This means the models will not have been tested with the actual phone.

I only know two people with Androids (husband and wife) and they only buy Samsung.

Even when I designed software commercially for mobile phones (top ten app in the U.K.) before I got too ill and had to shut the company down, I wouldn’t have bought this as a test device as it would represent less than 1% of the market.

It would be the case (bad pun). Such small market often means accessories are pretty much adapted or non-existent, its like finding a bullbar for a Corolla.

To make this successful @BambuLab needs to throw some base specs, maybe a dummy phone model we can use in CAD to experiment. There certainly are talented designers floating around here, you’ve got to give us more.

if I could get my printer to print (its only 4 months old, and it has been one thing after another with the ams clogging or not retracting) I would love to take part with my wife. Help!

But who has this phone? I’ve never seen any around

It’s only been out for a week.

So… a contest for a phone that only a handfull will have. Can’t wait to see the printed parts not being on the phone… Will it count as a sucessfull model? Will the part fit? Not a good contest at all, atleast for now. @MakerWorld should wait until more people have the phone (that i doubt since the cpu specs are “mehh”) and then and only then throw this contest around.

My 2 cents…

Can’t even get the phone lol.

The 100.000 units sold in 3 hours tell a different story.

my first instinct is to type #NOSPEC which is an old anti-specwork hashtag from the 2000s against phony ‘design competitions’ by companies that just want free labor and who refuse to hire qualified designers. This seems to be exactly that, just masquerading as a collaboration, but in the end, will be an exercise in futility tbh, so it’s not worth the calories. Down with spec work, but this niche of a niche of a niche doesn’t need help, it’ll probably be the most irrelevant contest in MW history, but who knows, maybe someone will post something clever and win the prize. I won’t join out of principle. Good luck to the entrants.

Hope those 100.000 users who bought it have atleast one 3D printer. That one will sure win this contest

I get it… a cool cheap phone with some modularity… on the cover and screws… My problem is that everyone will be modeling things for that phone without any physical tests. And as a modeler, i always test and double, even triple test everything on the physical device. It’s the way it should be.

Can’t wait for pictures of covers without the phone ahah

I hope the rules for entry are a little strict or else all were going to see like 10 models that actually relate to the phone with the remaining 500+ being a of stands , holders, charging pillows and toy frogs claiming to be a phone charm. Oh and lets not forgot a dozen or so hueforges.

There’s one thing, judges won’t be swayed by high download figures :upside_down_face:

This will be the weirdest contest in MakerWorld history. People without the phone will be making accesories for people with phone but without printers
