Color Change in Spiral Vase Mode

I would like to be able to print a band in a different color on a vase. The change color option appears to grayed out in Spiral Vase Mode,

I am going to work around this with the Pause option and manually changing the filament, but would like to be able to do this automatically.

I would also like this as an option! Sadly, it isn’t in any of the other slicers either.

I did some playing with this using a pause command. Every time I tried it, it left a small gap between layers of the spiral. So if this can be done at all, it may take more than a little coding change.
