So I have been ordering Bambu labs filament but ran into an issue. As a new person to Bambu I ordered orange thinking it would match the orange that came in the original box. The orange I got was a different shade of orange and I thought I had matched by looking. It be nice if the AMS gives you the color code that matches the website. You could also make it so in the AMS under the device in which you could click a link to reorder a refill of that spool. You could even make an auto option to reorder when below so many grams for people that use the same color alot.
fwiw - there are a couple of things here that make this difficult.
- Hex color codes don’t actually mean anything when applied to plastic. They apply to an emissive screen, like your PC monitor. They’re also not super accurate there.
- Individual batches have some color variance just because it’s a very analog process (pellets going through a hopper).
More consistency would be nice, but that means standardizing on RAL or Pantone (and RAL is free but has somewhat limited color options that it can express, while Pantone costs money, which, lmao).
You’d expect Bambu to be particular about consistency in their filament, though.
All I am asking is the rfid tag knows the type and color. Expose that in the GUI as a link to the bambu filament website. Data is there just use it.
