Hi, I have a question regarding color consistency. I’ve used several spools of Matte Desert Tan on my H2S, but during my last print, the color shift between spools was very noticeable. Is such a major variance normal, or is this a faulty batch?
Ewww, I use it quite a bit and haven’t seen that much. I even splice small rolls to new rolls once dried and haven’t seen this much of a shift.
It could be speed, direction of print and or cooling as a cause.
You have not shared what you were printing, if this was the only part or the orientation.
If the problem only occurred at exactly the same point the spools chanted and the model in the photo was actually oriented 90° on the side then the filament is the cause, any thing else fluid be anything else.
It’s normal variance, maybe a little larger then they’d like, but not major.
I was printing this ammo box: Ammo Storage Box .375 H&H Magnum 20 Rounds
I have printed some using the same *.3mf file, so no change was done before this print.
Anyway, in the future I will run a testprint mixing filament from two different spools. (At least with this color)
If you have an bambu RFID tag reader it might help to find spools that have close manufacturing dates instead of test prints, that way you don’t need to open the box.

The manufacturing dates was from september and november 2025.
Those are certainly going to be different batches, only rolls from the same batch are going to have the exact same color. The process starts with uncolored pellets and they add in colorant and mix, but the measurements are more like baking than a laboratory preparation.
Bigger companies like Sunlu do this better (and also have larger batches to start with).
