Im new to 3d printing so please go easy on me. Is there a way to just select the walls to be printed with color vs having the infill as well. Or maybe there is another solution I have no idea about. Anything to reduce the amount of poop in the bucket.
You need some of the infill colored, otherwise the outer wall will tend to separate. You can reduce poop by adjusting purge volumes - start with the automatic adjustment. As you get experience, you can experiment with reducing purge amounts.
I’ll comment that having the infill with the outer color filament doesn’t affect poop amount - any filament change will do that. One thing you can do to be more efficient is to print multiples of the same object, as you’ll need only one purge for all of them.
You can also reduce the waste and the printing time if, for example, you turn the colored area of a cube upwards for only one colored area. This way, the color is only changed for the area and not for each layer.
And also there is a “Flush into objects infill” option in the slicer “Others” option tab. Some of the pooped filament will be used for infill. See Reduce Waste during Filament Change | Bambu Lab Wiki
BUT: if you use light outer colors it is possible that some darker colors are used as infill then and shine through the outer walls.
Thanks you. I look forward to being able to get to the point to start adjusting value like these. Lol
