I have been carrying out some hole shrinkage tests in ABS to get a general feel for the shrinkage sizes.
It’s something that I have obviously witnessed before but never actually got the data infront of me. Bearing in mind this was just one test done for each, in the horizontal position using a hole size gauge block on makerworld going from 2.0mm to 10.9mm in increments of 0.1mm.
I always knew the larger the hole the smaller the shrinkage rate but seeing it in front of me is pretty nice. I’ve added some conditional formatting to the excel sheet to make it a bit clearer, darker colours being higher the shrinkage in terms of mm.
I also did a back to back test on my H2C to my H2S to see how they compare and i’m really happy that they are showing similar rates!

For those who are printing engineering parts and solutions, do you combat this in CAD or use the XY hole compensation factor in Bambu studio?
Or use polyholes?! Something I really really want to have a play with!
