I don’t see my post in the Community tab. The only way I can see it is to click at the Me button or specifically search for it. Is this the way the Community posts work or is this a bug and I should repost it?
I was told by one member that this is the way Community posts work, that one doesn’t see one’s own post except under the Me button.

Can one’s post also show up in the For You category, in addition to in Me?

Can users have some control over what are in the For You category? Until the Community grows to such a point that it’s no longer practical for users to manually choose what they want to see, letting users have some control is good. For example, I don’t want to see the polls and it would be good to have a way to exclude those.
DW, you can use the anonymous browsing feature in many web browsers so MW doesn’t know it’s you to see what a “commoner” sees.
Anonymous browsing doesn’t stop your IP address being disclosed to the server you’re visiting. It’s a gimmick that browser owners came up to generate a (false) sense of “privacy” and “security” for the users (very much like with Bambu’s so called “security firmware patch”). There’s no true anonymity online; once you “step” on the internet, you’re leaving digital fingerprints all over the place.
I bet you’re right drakko. After I posted that I went to verify it worked and didn’t see a recent community post I had done and chalked it up to risqué text I had used. But it did come up when I did the “me” button.
If so, though, that’s bad form for Bambu to tie you to an IP address. Others at that address could also have accounts or what happens if checking in through a public wifi - does everyone get painted with that IP?
But very true - people can be tracked all sorts of ways right down to using a computer or tablet’s software inventory to find you.
If you haven’t heard of “amiunique.org”, it’s eye opening. You’d think tablets are a dime a dozen. Mine is totally unique out of 3.5 million fingerprints.
I sometimes used the private/Incognito mode but that’s mainly when using public machines. It prevents other users of the same machine from seeing your browse history.
In any case, MW should make users’ own posts visible to them under the For You category.
The Community tab is still not very useful at the moment, but I should start using it now to get familiar with it. Hence the questions and suggestions. It’s also possible that my post was somehow set to for followers only. I selected the community post option when I uploaded a model. I didn’t see any option to choose which auidience it would go to. It could be that it defaulted to followers only.
The IP address ain’t the only thing that’s not “covered” under the false pretense of anonymity, today’s web browsers keep promising to offer.
Every network-compatible device can be identified by its MAC (media access control) address, which is an unique 17-character string of letters, numbers and colons, practically pointing the finger right at your machine (wheter a MacBook or a Windows
one) and identifying it from the all the millions of PCs or Mac’s out there.
Both MAC addresses and IP addresses are used to identify your device on a network, but for different purposes.
Speaking in automobile terms, MAC addresses are like Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs), which are unique to each vehicle. IP addresses are like license plates, which can be reassigned or transferred to different vehicles (VINs).
Whereas your computer (with MAC address X) may have an IP of 1.2.3.4 today, if you were to remove your computer from the network, that IP address could then be used by your Roku (with MAC address Y).
MAC addresses are used to route data within the same local network. You need an IP address if you want your data to transfer to other networks, such as the Internet.
Or in other words, once you connect to the net, you’re leaving a wide and very visible footprint, wherever you go visit a website.
