Condensation bucket project - Bambu ASA vs?

That’s a nice way to add mouse ears in Studio, but still a lot of extra work.

OrcaSlicer, one click to drop down, one to select Mouse Ear:

Yeah I used to use OrcaSlicer, its still installed but have been resisting the urge. It was basically an odd model that I needed to adjust and now its working really well.

The style is different though. His has just that little sproo, so less to clean off the print when it finally finishing the printing.

Does the little sproo hold down the print just as well, though? If not, then it’s academic, because that’s the whole point of having it in the first place. I don’t know the answer.

Regardless, A+ on use of “assemble”. Until your example, I didn’t know that “assemble” was something that could be done in the slicer, so thanks for that, as well as the professional illustration.

I’m qualified on Windows Paint . But use a Macbook now so got to slum it on screenshot editor

Well, I tried it just now, and I was able to use GenericUser’ method to have a bit more control over the positioning of the mouse ear, so as to reduce the post-processing:

I simply did “add part” and then “disc,” and then moved it around to where i wanted it. I didn’t see that I needed to do an “assemble” afterward. After final placement and then clicking away, it seemed to automatically join with the main object.

Anyhow, to better answer my own question, I’m printing it now. We’ll see if it works.

Nice!

I scaled the model up to more than double its original x and y dimensions, and I raised the height to 250mm. All this made for a more challenging print. Using GenericUser’s method , I added 3 discs (aka mouse ears) in the slicer. I didn’t add the sprou’s, because they kept floating away from the build plate when I added them using the slicer. The print completed fine and “succeeded” in the following sense:

  1. It did not fail: it did not lose bed adhesion. I can’t count this as a pure victory, though, because I don’t know whether it would have not failed anyway even without any mouse ears. I put them on as added insurance.

  2. They removed more cleanly than the orca slicer mouse ears.

I like this method and will use it again. Orca Slicer mouse ears, as currently implemented, have a much larger contact area with the model, which makes removal less clean. Nonetheless, they are still much better than regular brims.

Good job GenericUser!

I’ll be using this tool today, as I have some drywall corner bead that I need to install.

I’m happy to hear it had some success :+1:

Make a set and save as mouse ears, then simply add to the plate as “geometry only” when you need them.
