How do you connect Bambu Studio to an X1C when the PC and printer are on different networks at completely different physical locations? Can this be done?
I have my X1C running great on my home network and can print via cloud just fine. However, at work on that PC I’ve installed Bambu Studio and logged in with the same account, but I can’t seem to figure out how to get my printer connected so I can send a print from work. I feel like this should be possible since I’m logging in with the same account.
This is possible as I do exactly the same thing. I just log into my account in Bambu Studio and I can control my printer at home. If you’re having issues you might look at your firewall settings. Your printer isn’t connected in LAN mode is it?
It could very well be a firewall setting which I may not be able to adjust.
In Studio, when I go to the Device page it shows No Printer. When I select where my printer should be, it pops up a “Bind with Pin Code” which doesn’t seem right?
The printer should be already bound to your account. You shouldn’t need to rebind it. Perhaps double check you are logged into the same account as at home?
Thanks for all of the posts clarifying how things are supposed to work.
As it turns out, that is part of the problem. Since I left my user name as assigned, it wasn’t very obvious that I had logged in under a different account. Fixed that part.
Now I’m logged in under the same account and the printer does show up in my device list, but I get a “Failed to connect to the server” error. Code -6020. “Failed to connect to cloud service” which appears to be a firewall issue?
So if I can’t get past the firewall issue from this other computer / network, it looks like I can use BL on this other network, upload a private .3mf from BL, and open that from BHandy and print. Seems like a roundabout way to accomplish what I was trying to do in the first place. I obviously have access to the cloud from this network so I’m not sure why I can’t see my printer. Must be some other type of activity or sync that makes the firewall block it.
A test that you could do is to hotspot your phone and connect to it with your work computer (assuming it has wifi) and see if the you can connect to you printer via Bambu Studio.
No wireless on this workstation. Good consideration though. My work laptop has wifi but I didn’t want to install BL on that. I almost got a wifi card a couple of weeks ago when I was experiencing poor network connections, but IT wired me into another workstation’s ethernetbl supply via a switch until they can pull a new ethernet line.
