I have a lot of experience with my P1S but this A1 Mini that I picked up as a second printer and am having tons of issues with it. I am finding it prints slightly shifted on some prints and in some cases the entire build plate is slid off the machine with “spaghetti” left behind. I haven’t visibly seen what is going on but wondering if it is clashing with the prints or something which is causing a shift or the plate being pushed off. Anyone have any suggestions on what to look for or adjust, I have been racking my brain on this thing?
If you are referring to the magnetic build plate, it should not be possible to slide off during a normal print.
I have had my A1 mini (the oldest of all my current 3D printers) since launch, with well over 1,000 hours of print time.
I have never experienced this.
I have just gone up to the printer, used two hands on the lip of the build plate and moved the entire printer left to right when moving the build plate, which never left the print bed.
A physical build plate shift, minor or major, is a real issue.
I suggest you watch the print, do a time-lapse (the A-series cameras are rubbish though), or use a camera unrelated to the printer to record what happens.
yes I am referring to the PEI plate that is being pushed off. Has happened 3 times now. I have tried as well by hand and it takes a lot of force, more than I would have thought the printer could do. I will turn my time lapse on for the next time just to be sure. My best guess at the moment is that it is a filament purge issue where purged filament gets on the build plate and eventually merges with the prints and is dragging the plate off. I had to turn time lapse off a few prints ago when I did a “print by part” and never turned it back on.
