For contest entries on MakerWorld, does the submission need to be uploaded during the contest? Or can it be something you previously uploaded?
I am working on something for the upcoming “Office Helper” design contest. If I want to put my model up now to get feedback and then make changes before the contest, am I allowed to re-upload a model again just for the contest? Or are duplicate models not allowed?
(Maybe these questions are answered in the contest rules–but I wasn’t sure where to find those.)
I think it would be good if they allowed a bit of leeway in upload dates when they launch competitions, i.e, specify a start date a little in the past to allow entries from models recently uploaded as well as completely new ones.
Otherwise particularly for predictable holiday type competitions the current approach may result in uploads of completed (or draft) models being held off,
Is this true? You can upload a design and hold it in draft state until the contest period starts? Is this stated in the rules or contest instructions somewhere?
Then, when the contest starts, publish it?
Perhaps I’ll try a contest, but wasn’t sure about this. I didn’t see how to submit a design to a contest, perhaps because I haven’t published one yet?
I didn’t know if there was a tag or category that the design must use to be included in a contest?
I wonder why we can’t submit previous designs into a contest? Perhaps they want to use contests to promote new designs?
Yes, you can create the post with all the pictures, description and one profile and save as a draft. Then, after the contest starts, publish it. Then go to the contest page and click join and you will see all eligible models.
I think the idea is to promote new designs, so any models you published before the contest starts will not be visible on the join page. However, I’ve seen some folks simply make a copy of their existing design and publish it again after the contest starts. Is that against the rules? I don’t know. Maybe it violates the intention of the contest if not the letter of the rules.
