Short version: The employee responsible for photoshop took a break
guys (@MakerWorld) this is not ok. first you are announcing to plan the contest and shift all the other stuff, then nothing happens and then you are responding too late and can’t even say when the contests begins. People are relying on your newsfeed and all you do is pushing a statement without any really content just saying how amazed you are from all our suggestions.
It’s already Easter here, everyone is looking for the link to the contest, but no one can find it.
they postponed. it was announced for the 8th of march and now the timetable says 10th of march… these “on the fly” changes without any propper notification is inappropriate
A contest schedule with frequently changing dates is not really helpful.
Oh well. Stuff happens. I’m not going to fret about it.
Yeah, it’s a bit unfortunate that no proper notification was given. But to me personally, it doesn’t make too much of a difference if I am able to upload my design(s) on the 8th or the 10th.
sometimes there are more in the background such as technical problems with the servers and updates, thats what I think they are dealing with right now before pushing more contests
That wasn’t the only change in the schedule. The “Bathroom Accessories” contest has now been postponed for 11 days. The schedule was originally intended to help designers plan ahead. But it doesn’t really work that way.
sure but then I notify my customers. It’s not about the postponing itself it’s about the way they are doing it. I was wondering all the time why there is no preview yet. To be honest I expected that they will not start it on firday. but I stressed myself getting all the stuff ready (pics, videos, model, print, …) and then we just get the “we are still working on the banners and by the way all your ideas are cool”-message. there was no apology - just → we are still working on the banners. wtf?! it’s predictable that you need banners. so why are you adding it to the timetable without having finished their groundwork at all?!
…and then they changed the date from 8th to 10th without any other notice. this is absolutely not the right way.
true I can understand that
It is really weird all this. I have no words
You might care about a free contest more than you should. That said, you have passion and that has a value all it’s own.
maybe you’re right. …but I wouldn’t say the contests are free. it’s a kind of win / win but in the end bambu is the real winner as they get new models which are created by designers who spent a lot of time. …and for me it’s not about winning - it’s about visibility. timing / posting the models is really essential. as soon as a creator with hundreds of followers is entering the contest he / she automatically gets to the top. so I always try to join the contest as soon as possible because your chances are higher to stay visible. more visibility → more views → more views → more downloads. For me it’s not about winning the contest it’s just staying visible that maybe also my other models are downloaded (I’m saving points to get a new printer).
so - yes - contests are free. but contests live from the designers. it’s their time and sometimes they spent hours. bumbu just needs to say → here is a new contest → go for it. all I want is that the timeplan is reliable. they know that they start the contest on a specific date. then I expect that this date is fixed. when they postpone something - it’s o.k… but the designers should be notified. it’s their valuable time they spent. bambu already knew that they can’t hold the date but they did not even spent a minute to notify the people. …then they just came out late with the information & did not say a word of regrets… this policy is not o.k.
We hear all of your voices, and agree that we should do a better job next time in informing our makers upfront. The situation was unexpected and we have had to work with limited resources in a short period of time to fix this issue. We will try our best to stick to the announced schedule in the future, but we would also ask for your thoughtfulness as sometimes unexpected circumstances do take place. Our Easter Design Contest will be up and running on Mar.10th.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, and will extend our contest period to make up for the lost time. Thanks a lot for your understanding.
thank you - that’s what I wanted to hear
We love that you and so many others are so passionate about our contests, can’t wait to see all of the entries!
It is now 0:03 on March 10, GMT+8. Still nothing.
yeah - in your timezone. you need to wait exactly 24h (it’s 5 p.m. in germany - each contests here starts at 5 p.m.)
Oh well…wish I check this thread more frequently, didn’t think there was going to be an Easter contest…
