Continuous printing with AMS

I’m using a X1E with AMS. I have several partial spools of generic PETG White material that I’d like to use with the AMS. What settings do I need to enable to allow the printer to use the second spool of material if the first one runs out?

Thank you.

As you see in my screenshot, the following elements need to match identically.

  • Company who makes the filament (all must be generic)
  • Type of filament PETG HF requires PETG HF to match
  • Colour White needs White to match
  1. When those things are true.
You see this presentation, with the Auto Refill dialog shown.

  2. When they do not match you see this instead.

I have Bambu Lab PLA Basic Ivory White in slots A2 & B4.

If you have matched and do see the confirmation window, it will show you the order it will print.

Whichever one you start with, the next one shown in the diagram will be selected next, you can choose which one you start with.

Thanks for the info. I’ll check and see if this works. The material is the same brand and color, so it should work.

If you don’t care about the color, set them the same. The printer doesn’t do anything different for a color (well, other than change purge amounts from some colors to others). But for a long print where you’re not sure if the roll will have enough, and you don’t have the next color, and you don’t care if the end color is different, just set them up as a same color. The printer only seems to care that the brand, type and chosen color are the same. But you need to do this BEFORE slicing/starting the job.
