I found a workaround for selecting plates for H2D. As you know for now only the smooth and textured PEI are selectable even though you have all the other plate type temp settings in filament profiles. I tried messing around with the slicer code to enable it but found a much easier way. If you click on the plate settings button, you can select any plate type “cool plate”, “supertack” and “engineering” that are not officially enabled yet.
Unfortunately looks like they patched the workaround in the latest version.

I was going to ask how to use these third party plates, I ordered a Fystec CryoNix and a Biqu Glacier plate. So based on the latest patch how are you using them?
I use it like smooth pei, that’s all, no cool printing, but good adhesion
I just run my Frostbite plate under the textured pei plate setting. I am going to copy the code on the pei oem plate and print it on paper then stick that to the plate and hope that works so I can leave plate detection on.
The current workaround as of Bambu Studio 2.1.1 is to edit a json file, the file to edit is named Bambu Lab H2D.json
On Mac this file is in ~/Library/Application Support/BambuStudio/system/BBL/machine
On Windows this file is in %APPDATA%/BambuStudio/system/BBL/machine
Open the json file in a text editor, and look for the line that has not_support_bed_type and remove the entire line. Save and restart Bambu Studio

Unfortunately on macOS it causes a crash after selecting any of the alt plates.

Be sure to close all instances and restart. Happened to me once also, I had another instance running

It crashes on my Mac too, however if you change the plate type in the Per Plate setting (Hexagon Icon next to the Build plate) in BS that works as expected, well for me anyway

Am i missing something? When I select the plate I only get two on the dropdown window Textured and Smooth?

If you’ve followed the above steps and restarted Bambu Studio, did you then click on the nut icon on the build plate and choose it from there?
Not really sure on how to access the Windows file and remove the line he’s discussing?
Did this on windows and worked perfectly! Thank you!
For windows users if you press on your keyboard the windows button + R, it will open the run window and paste in “%appdata%”
That will open the appdata folder.

This didn’t totally work for me on Windows. Crashes every time I select the plate. I can do the gear thing after editing the json, but I want to be able to select it at the top where the plate picture is like you did. Are there any other details you maybe left out to make it work without crashing?

My main machine is a Mac and I have been slicing with the cool plate on H2D without issue. I just double checked Windows again, while the plate shows up, as soon as any of the “extra” plate type is selected, Bambu Studio crashes. For the time being, this workaround appears to only work on a Mac.
I have just updated to studio 2.2…
I triad the changes you suggested. If I select the engineering or cool plate the application throws an error and terminate.
I am seeing the same with 2.2 on Mac. The workaround no longer works.
Still works, you can’t select it from the top you it crashes. You have to select it from the side of the plate.

Just checked and yes it works from the plate. But what about parameters, As far as I see all the filament settings are the same regardless of the plate.
Were is the real change ?
You adjust all of the plate temps in filament profiles. But “supertack” should be cooler than PEI already.
