Cool plate super tack

I was able to receive the cool plate super tack and was anxious to use it. I first tried with PLA for a print i have continuous issue with warping off the PEI plate. The X1C could not identify the plate for starters. I pushed forward though as i selected it in Bambu Studio. Nothing stuck to the plate. Not even the purge line. Plate temp in auto settings was 45. I let Studio make the choices. Any ideas on how to get the printer to recognize the plate and if there is something additional i need to do to get the filament to stick? Ive only had my printer for a month so this is fairly new to me. Thank you!

It wonā€™t recognize the plate for anyone and apparently there is some kind of bug that happens if you hit cancel. Try disabling plate detection and see if that helps.

I just ordered mine, Iā€™m hoping it does exactly what it says on the tin, otherwise it will become a returnā€¦ :crossed_fingers:

Correct, Bambu should include an insert and more strong wording on the sales sight - you are REQUIRED to disable plate detection for it to work on the X1C - period. There is no way to make it work with detection ON because of a bug that borks the Z-offset if you click ignore/cancel or whatever option the printer and studio/handy give you. You must cancel the print, and turn off detection.

Note: there are models to print your own aruco QR code that allegedly do work though, but I haven tried yet: Low-Temperature Stabilizing Plate QR Code Bambu Cool Plate SuperTack QR by Rodin - MakerWorld

It does say it in the wiki. I do agree an insert in the packaging would be nice.

Update: saw this on a model listing where someone used their P-touch labeler to print the code, I recreated it because everyone is sharing blurry low-res jpegs, here is a high-res code in case anyone wants to use it (note that the super tack itself has the same aruco as the cool plate, its just the slicer setting that differentiates). I sent it to my little $19 labeler that works with my phone over bluetooth - plate detection works again yay!

Very cool. Bambu Lab should proactively send these stickers to all buyers of super tack plates

I have the same issue with nothing sticking. I followed all of the Support Tech suggestions and they are issuing a store credit for the plate. It looks as though the first layer is not pushed into the plate well enough and even the calibration lines peel up as the nozzle passes over them.

I even asked them about the z-offset and it was ignored. Having built an open source printer previously and manually calibrating everything on it, I feel like I ā€œcouldā€ make this plate work however it is not at all as advertised like the rest of the Bambu products.

I agree. The Super Tack plate has been by far the biggest disappointment of anything to do with my X1C. I was so happy to upgrade from a tinkering printer (Ender 3) to one that ā€œjust worksā€ and Bambu have completely borked the launch of this plate. I watched several YouTubers rave about it so I ordered one when I managed to catch them in stock. I know it says the QR code is not recognized but no where does it say that just hitting cancel when the plate canā€™t be detected causes the Z motion to be too high. Why would they do that. I tried the Super Tack plate once and it made more spaghetti than this printer has made in a year on just the first layer, so I went back to the trusty Textured PEI. Iā€™ll give it another go by actually disabling plate detection, but thatā€™s not a long term solution. I donā€™t want to disable it for all plates - itā€™s saved me more than once, and Iā€™m not going to turn that on and off for each time I change plates / materials.
I hope getting this plate to work like all the others is the only priority at Bambu right now.

Does this solve the Z height issue that just dismissing the ā€˜plate not detectedā€™ message leads to? If itā€™s really just the cameraā€™s ability to see the code, could we just paint it in with a higher contrast marker?

Yes.

Once you replace the qr with a 3D or 2D printed one it works FLAWLESSLY

I am experiencing the same issue with the print plate, and I find it difficult to understand how a company like Bambu Lab does not thoroughly test its products before they go on sale.

If this works Bambu should give you a pallet of filament. I have about had it with this plate and if this does not work i am sending it back. The first sticker i printed this was larger than normal so i may need to scale it down.

Nope, didnā€™t work. I printed 100, 75, 70, 60, 55, and 50% scale. None of them were detected. Back to BL and i will get the cryo pro frostbite. The glacier works well, i wanted to test both to see if i could replicate what the YouTubers miraculously achieved. Bad batch, maybe. I donā€™t care at this point, refund.
