Hello,
Im having awful first layers with the cool plate, when I do the bed calibration the bed temp is reaching upto 65c and then stays around 55c. I have selected the cool plate before calibration but its getting overriden, how do I bed level with correct bed temp of 35c?
I have tried changing the temp as the calibration starts but it goes straight back to 55c.
Thanks
Try setting your filament’s settings to 35 C
If your settings for your filament tell the printer to set the build plate to 55C or 65C, it will heat to that. In bambu studio, set temperatures to 35C for the build plate you are using.
Hmm that is strange as the cool plate is set to 35c.
I’ll change all plates to 35c and see what happens.
Thanks
Did you select the plate in bambu studio? I know this sounds stupid but it’s a pretty easy thing to miss.
I did, I have pressed Sync also.
Im going to try again once nozzle has cooled and do a power cycle on the printer.
Hmm no joy, Bed level calibration still taking it up to 65c then idle at 55c.
Huh. You’re using an A series printer?
Yeah, using the bambu A1.
Not sure what to do
When doing Flow and Flow Dynamics, the bed is correct and gets set to 45c (I changed it back to default), but using Calibration>Auto Bed Level it goes to 65c/55c.
Looking online, Google Ai says the bed level temp is hardcoded into the printer.
If this is true then how is an accurate bed level achieved with wrong bed temps? Bambu need to look into this as I cant get a decent first layer due to wrong calibration results.
I’m sorry that bambu labs has screwed you over yet again
Hold up just a minute.
You said you’re having terrible first layers, but how did you arrive at the conclusion it’s leveling that’s the problem?
To clarify how leveling works - the machine does a high resolution mesh via the configuration, yes it’s at higher temperature - but when the preprint quick probing runs it’s checking the bed again specifically to see if anything has changed to any significant degree - and it throws an error if it does. I’ve had little bits of junk stuck under a build plate and that’s enough to cause it to error out.
If there was THAT much bed change in a 30 degree swing, you would be seeing an error - and we’ve seen that on the H series with the front shipping Z-bracket, but that’s clearly not what’s happening here.
Let’s take a step back, can you show us your first layer issues so we can diagnose it properly? There are a ton of things that can cause first layer issues that are totally unrelated to bed temp.
He’s very right. Kudos CarbonForge!
Here’s a list of things to try first:
Run a calibration cycle
Try another plate
Clean the plate with hot water and dish soap.
Run the layer slower.
Try these to fix most first-layer fails.
Thanks for getting back to both.
Had a few things to do, but I have done a Flow/Flow Dynamic calibration, about to do a first layer test now.
I forgot I had changed from a Biqu 0.4 nozzle to a Bambu 0.4, so I think this is what was going to be causing the first layer issue.
Ok, Im back to printing great first layers.
I needed to calibrate filament for Bambu’s nozzle again and select Cool Plate Supertack and not Cool Plate.
Halfway through full bed first layer and its clean.
Thanks very much for everyones help and apologies it was something daft.
If that’s it, please mark this as solved!
Glad you posted this here, knowing the temp would not be causing issue made me look what else it could be, I also never knew this information and good to know thanks.
