Hello, I was wondering whether or not to buy an AMS lite for my A1 Mini. I figured I could paint all my models instead! Are there any suggestions for what paints, brushes, primers, and filaments to use?
Yes, you can paint printed things. I use Vallejo paints for plastic models. Use a primer to help the paint stick to the print.
I paint some of my models with acrylic paint. It’s a good idea to first roughen it a bit with sandpaper or use a primer (preferably both) 
However, over time (depends on how much you print) you will probably come to the conclusion that you need AMS
