Hello, I recently found wikiwada’s Heart Drink Coaster Set, that is pretty disappointing as it cannot be downloaded (you may have already know the “How To Get STL Models?” button).
Since it looked simple enough, I accepted the challenge to redesign the design in Fusion and finally decided to recreate it from scratch, such that it is at least 90% the same, with an additional coaster for anti-spill purposes.
I have already tested the model out, printing 2 flat coasters and 2 anti-spill ones. I have ran out of filament midway on my last coaster and the way how the ends of the filament are hooked made the printer think that the extruder is clogged twice.
Now, I have a
SERIOUS problem. If I publish it as a print profile on the original model, I can risk getting it taken down for “Print profile for another model”. When I publish it as a new model, I can also risk getting the model taken down for “Copying or Plagiarism” since the model looks the same from the naked eye. I hope you would help me with that, but here’s a 3mf file for you to download (85% scale):

Not sure I understand the problem here. What stops you from uploading it as a remix?

So just download the STL and then upload a 3MF profile using the same model
Well, op made model himself so not remix.
and i believe original profile has been removed so no STL

Here is the original model Heart Drink Coaster Set by wikiwada MakerWorld: Download Free 3D Models it is licensed under CC-BY-NC which means you can upload as a remix but your model must stick with the CC-BY-NC licensing. Cheers

Also if your angle is to get your model classified as an original so you can join the exclusive program, that’s not going to happen. Besides, coasters are not allowed MakerWorld Exclusive Model Guideline | Bambu Lab Wiki

Ok, thank you for this suggestion!
It’s not remix though, unless op edited original model.
Not sure what best to upload it as.
Should message original creator .
You technically recreated it completely, upload it however you want. You can class it as a remix to try to algorithmically attach views from his stuff to your stuff, but it really isn’t a remix, you didn’t start from his files. It’s yours to decide.

Even “creating it from scratch” doesn’t free one from the derivative test. Especially with such a similar looking model. Without acknowledging the original designer, you’re opening yourself up for copyright infringement reports.
Found this with reverse image search Heart Drinks Coaster Set free 3D model 3D printable | CGTrader I suppose that could have saved you the trouble of recreating the model from scratch, but it’s all good design practice, right?
The model was posted 2014-02-09. This could very well be the original. It has a “Royalty Free No Ai” license. A quick skim of the details say:
“You can use it as long as it is incorporated into the product and the 3rd party cannot retrieve it individually in either the digital or physical form.”
This is probably why the Makerworld removed the print profile, which left an orphaned model page.
Should model pages without files even exist?

No. This can discourage user experience.
In order to download it, you have to log in, which can be a little tedious especially if you don’t really know what’s your username or password. A redesign will also not violate the original license.
