Day 1 and it’s almost at 800 entries already. Any bets on how many we’ll see by the end of the month? Seeing how fast this is growing really puts the sheer volume of models being added to makerworld into perspective. It’s kinda bonkers!

I did not look at the site yet but I can already imagine the apocalypse of the most effortless ai generated models, right ?

I can only imagine it is replete with high-quality designs that have not been recycled from last year’s model or, worse, someone else’s efforts.
Pointless entering such a contest, as the quality will be hard to find amongst the rest.
A far more targeted contest theme with rules limiting the scope to help differentiate it from the same one each year would have been smart.
We say this each time they promote such wide-ranging themes; they drive down the quality BL tells us they so desperately wish to promote.

I believe that in order to generate as many models as possible to download on MW for those who have a Bambulab printer and to have a wide range of new choices every year (obviously I am talking about those who do not use shortcuts), the problem will be won by those who do not expect to win.

I really enjoy the creativity in the contests.
What I notice though is that user badges already tell stories. For example, the MakerLab Innovator badge shows how many models were exported with MakerLab. But in public uploads it is often not visible that MakerLab or AI was part of the process. With Exclusive models in particular, which many contest participants focus on, I would have expected clearer disclosure since the policy says it should be there.
At the same time, designs that use brand elements tend to get more boosts and attention. That gives them a big advantage in contests, while those who stick to fully original work struggle to get the same visibility. Maybe it is worth talking about how to make contests more balanced for everyone.
In general, AI-generated models and design contests simply do not go together. Otherwise the whole idea becomes ad absurdum.
Despite being a requirement of the rules of uploading a model to MakerWorld and use specifically with MakerLab.
I need to setup a workflow where AI joins these contests, does all the work and stamps my name without my intervention…

Hahahaha. I am very interested in how they actually do it… don’t forget the exclusive program and showing off on social media…
Models that infringe on IP should be banned from entering competitions and from the exclusive program.
Due to the fact that if these models were reported by the IP holders or the payment provider that MW uses, they would have been taken down and have points taken away, there is no logical reasoning under which they be allowed in the above two categories.
