After having some ASA prints warp pretty severely, I went down the rabbit hole of adding a chamber heater to my machine. There was a good bit of info available on home brew solutions but I was hoping for something more plug-and-play. After searching for pre-built options, I settled on the Creality Chamber Heater. The things I liked about it were the external controller, built-in timer and the 400W heater should have no problem maintaining temps.
Anyway, the install went smoothly and it’s been working great so far. It gets the chamber up to temp within 15-20 minutes and holds it steady the entire print.
The most daunting part of the project was pulling the side panel off the printer and, of course, drilling a bunch of holes in it. If anyone else is considering it, I put together a write-up of the process and shared the models of the parts I created to mount everything (controller mount, cable hanger and custom TPU grommet). I also went the extra step and created a template for the hole locations so the next person doesn’t have to disassemble their machine to install one.
