The classic A-series just got a “bigger” member! With an extra-large volume, granular dampers for stability, and new modular add-ons, here’s comes our new A2L!

Adaptive Vibration Compensation and Granular Dampers — A bed-slinger as stable as CoreXY

Standard Vibration Compensation has its limits; as models grow, shifting weight alters vibration profiles. How does the A2L maintain stability then? Its Adaptive Vibration Compensation solves this by mapping bed loads and toolhead positions into a calibration matrix, enabling real-time retuning mid-print.

And two Granular Dampers are built into the frame to physically absorb vibration and stabilize the frame. Therefore, even when printing at the limits of the build volume, it can still deliver superior quality.

So, are the A1s getting their firmware updated to also be able to use 3 ams lite slots, or are the ams lites they came with still going to be ewaste if you get an ams?

Pair the A2L with the 2nd-Gen AMS, and your filament gets a sealed, climate-controlled home—dried on demand before each print, kept airtight between them. Need more colors? Need different material types running side by side? AMS lite and the 2nd-Gen AMS share the same embedded buffer system, so you can stack and mix them: four spools, eight spools, sixteen spools—whatever your project asks for, fed cleanly through one queue.

Yeah that. There doesnt appear to be anything different about the 4 to 1 ams hub on the top of the printer. So its something that absolutely should come to the a1.

2. What are the primary differences between the A2L and the A1 series? Is it just a larger version of the A1?

Beyond a 105% increase in build volume (reaching 330mm x 320mm x 325 mm), the A2L features major breakthroughs in core hardware and algorithms:

1. Extrusion System Upgrade: Equipped with a PMSM closed-loop servo extruder, ensuring stable power output during high-speed printing and supporting active monitoring of extrusion anomalies.

2. Adaptive Vibration Compensation: The first model to feature an adaptive algorithm with multi-point calibration & load-adapting, significantly reducing ghosting and ringing on large or tall prints.

3. Physical Resonance Suppression: Two granular dampers are built into the frame to physically absorb resonance, further enhancing surface quality.

4. Multi-functional Creativity: A new modular mounting point allows for the installation of a blade-cutting module for 2D creative projects.

5. More Reliable Nozzle Clumping Detection: A new nozzle clumping detection switch has been added. Dedicated hardware now performs detection through physical contact, making it more stable and reliable.

I didn’t think @BambuLab would be dumb enough to cannibalise their other products, but their stupidity is our gain.

An intriguing offering.

Not great for core x/y enthusiasts, but that gap has already been solved.

A large format (with a massive floor space requirement) with cutting (useful) and drawing (less so).

I am considering it.

so in theory someone just needs to design a mount that goes onto the original A1 printers that would connect the cutting tool to the tool head. and it should be able to work if bambu lab sent out an update that would make it so the printer knows not to print out filament but only cut things like leather and draw on paper and stuff.

The P1S and A2L are priced almost the same. The P1S may be older, but it’s still an excellent device. The P2S isn’t far away either. The printer sorted by price. This is going to be interesting.

Can the A2L be used with 2 units of the ams lite to allow printing with 8/ 9 colors?

Is the new extruder wheel full metal?

I like that it’s using the same build plate as the H2C - hopefully this will result in more build plate options from Bambu for the H2C and native support in Studio.

The granular damping is an interesting addition, it certainly can be an effective approach to reducing vibration, but it must have been a real bugger trying to tune the active resonance compensation to work with that and not wind up fighting it.

And the price…wow. Bambu is continuing to aggressively price their printers.
