Queen Victoria 2nd Reprint failed due to various design issues - so have split it out into smaller parts for reprint.
Sea Cloud Multi Colour test print now ready to start too.
Masts and Sails separated out - as if not there will be over 2000 colour changes.
About 30% through
Only 1 hr to go on the main print
Trying to print sails in an efficient way - single colour test print
Almost complete -
Sea Cloud Done pretty much - just need to reprint masts in correct colour, remove the labels and add some rigging
Care to share it on some other platform, like makerworld.com or printables.com. Don’t have a Zucky-boy account nor do I want one. So using a different share source would be appreciated.
Not sure which post that relates to - if it is regarding tui skyla it is just photos on facebook. I’m still awaiting permission to publish Skyla - so can’t publish the model I am afraid,
Have you tried to use thin plastic boards like acrylic? Maybe they will turn out looking better and without the texture of the film you use.
No not yet - i’ve mainly used various thicknesses of acetate so far. Will see if I can get some really thin clear plastic sheets,
Wow, your ship models are mind blowing to me as I’m just getting into more complicated modeling. They look wonderful.
Question on that short strand of fairy lights. I’m trying to find a kit where I can make them however long I want so I can add lights to some Christmas passenger cars I’m modifying. Was that string a kit or just a short factory made string?
Thanks, and more importantly, keep up the incredible work!!!
Thanks - I think I got the one in the photos at a discount shop in the UK - for about £1. I have a few longer ones though from Aliepxress - such as these ones for example.
Almost 5 months since my last post in this thread, I’ve been busy on another non BL multi colour printer project - see here if anyone is interested
I’m still on the fence about whether to bother with an H2D at all, but I am currently erring towards.
a) getting one for its 2 colour/2 material ability - which should make mostly 2 colour sections print a lot faster and more efficiently
I’m making a start on my next ship model - a 1:500 QM2 (as short cruise booked) and I think if I do it multi part (10-20 parts) like my original Ventura/Iona models I can do a fair number of the parts in 2 colours only - which should print really efficiently.
The larger build plate will help too - as I had to split most of my other 1:500 models in to 3 parts long ways on an X1C - but the H2D should reduce this down to 2 or less.
b) I initially completely wrote off the idea of getting the laser version - but I am having seconds thoughts as the space saving convenience (as outlined in the CNC Kitchen interview) of only having one unit is attractive, plus also the ability to do material cutting is also an advantage.
I do have a cricut - but although the unit itself is quite small - its a bit like a bed slinger but worse - because you need a lot of clear space both in front and behind it.
One thing I would quite like to do is
I would also like to be able to cut very thin metal.
I think the upgrade path from a Non Laser to Laser is going to be quite tricky due to missing things like air pumps and overhead camera’s
So I am currently erring towards ordering the 10w laser version - perhaps with non AMS2’s for now to keep the price down - and use two X1C AMS units initially on the H2D
