Im thinking about getting PandaTouch to use with my P1 series printers, I seen not much info on the current status of the functionality. Im a user of the BBL beta firmwares on all my machines, Im on 01.05.04.00 beta at the moment…I seen from videos from BTT 3 months ago saying there might be issues in the future…One thing I HATE about Bambu Handy is that I cant change the PA value of the filaments in the AMS or external spool, I dont see this feature on the Panda touch either unless im mistaken.
I just hooked mine up last Thursday and at first I wasn’t crazy about it because it was super buggy. The screen flicker was crazy and it keep rebooting for no reason. Then I updated the firmware from 1.0.1 to 1.0.3 and it seems to have fixed everything. It has all the same features as the X1C screen so you can’t set the pressure advance on it. Really the only difference from the X1C screen is you can control multiple printers and it’s detachable.
Im going to use it to control my 3 P1 series printers, I have printed a mount that covers up the original screen for a more factory look…from photos it looks bulky so idk how long that will last, and if I dont like it I can switch to a Klipper Touch, I have 3 Vorons and 4 other Klipper printers so it wont be a complete waste of money.
I have had the Panda Touch for a couple of months now. The big problem I have repeatedly is the Panda Touch losing connectivity. Its pretty much every few minutes. I have tried to contact the manufacturer, but I don’t remember my password and their password reset functionality never sends me an email to reset it. I would not buy this again until that problem was fixed.
Was great until Bambu broke MQTT with the last update. Should be a fix this coming week.
The wifi reception with the built-in ESP32 is very weak. Bambu also use it on the P1S but with the addition of a good size antenna, I bet Panda Touch only use the built-in antenna of the ESP32 and like you I had disconnections all the time. Unfortunately, the Panda Touch does not seem to be easily upgradable (cannot be opened) otherwise I would have added an antenna or a better one. I fixed it by just purchasing a cheap repeater and set the SSID of the repeater the same as my main network. It now connects instantly (as does the printer) with full 5 bars and doesn’t disconnect any longer. Upgrading to firmware 1.03 (PandaTouch/Firmware/1.0.3 at master · bigtreetech/PandaTouch · GitHub) had solved it a bit but the repeater has solved it for good.
I appreciate the information. Unfortunately, I have installed Firmware 1.0.3 recently and my printer is literally 5 feet from my wireless router. I guess my situation must be a bit different than yours is. I guess I will just have to live with the intermittent connection and make the best of it.
Why are you touching pandas?
New beta firmware will drop early next week with cloud MQTT support. After that we will release V1.0.5 about 4 weeks later with some features that people have been asking for.
Can you list the features? Also, will this fix the repeated disconnection problem the Panda Touch suffers from? Thanks in advance.
Same beta page? (25 char)
Once it is released, yes.
Thanks, that what I thought. Can’t see the other pictures, I don’t have a facebook account
