I noticed that in the latest BambuSuite update, curved surface engraving is now supported for the H2D but not the H2S (and it doesn’t work it throws an unsupported laser module error). Is there any hardware the H2D uses that the H2S does not have to support this?
Not sure, power to the toolhead? The H2D supports a 40w laser where the H2S supports only a 10W laser.
Please Chinese overlords sell me a rotary tool.
Maybe thats why theres a 4-pin cable on the inside of the printer…
I’m pretty sure they made a blog about H2 Laser accessories in the near-future, (my guess is that its) probably coming at the same time the H2C releases.
I would guess, this might also require a firmware update.
The fact they mention the H2D only, could be because the H2S wasn’t released yet when the wiki was written.
Not sure though. But I don’t see a reason to why this would be different on an H2S.
I have some print job running at the moment, but will test it on my H2D
That’s a bummer. I just wanted to try out to engrave a steel mug as well and found out that the curved surface engraving feature is only for the H2D right now.
Did anyone get an info from the Bambulab support if it will eventually come to the H2S?
This is what they told me:
The Curved surface engraving is not supported at present. It is expected to be available in the subsequent firmware update. Please wait patiently. Thank you!
When is the new update? @SupportAssistant
Thanks for the info. So there is still hope :).
It´s been a while now. Does anybody know of an eta of an update for curved surface engraving for the H2S?
Is there any news out for H2S and curved surface… as usual, send out my order yesterday and today realize this is only for H2D ![]()
I haven’t seen anything and I’m quite dissapointed in why they haven’t rolled this out for the H2S yet. In fact, I see firmware and software updates for H2S lagging way behind for some reason.
Any Update to this? I just got an H2S and engraving on curved surfaces would be nice.
Bambu changed the H2S store page a few months ago and silently (and sneakily) removed any mention from curved surface engraving from the H2S. This feels like a rip off because when i bought my H2S Laser combo, one of the highlights (for me) was that option that “would come in a later firmware”.
This reminds me of the X1C door sensor that was promised on day one and was released through a firmware update years after, to be more precise, when the H2 series launched. And yes, their store page for the X1C was also changed several times and if it wasn’t for the “noise” of customers, they would have gone away with it.
The worst is that there is no access to their old store page. Since they removed themselves from the wayback machine, there is no “real” proof. That alone is enough.
So i ask, since i bought my machine when that function was there, can i have a resolution or law is the only way to go forward? In the EU is easy to get our money back but i would like an official response from Bambu before, obviously.
I bet that there are more customers like me, that want what they paid for.
