Customisation - Header and Footer Added to Creator center

In case people have not noticed Makerworld has added a customisable header and footer section to the creator center. So you can add standard info to all models.

I think this feature is great as a I have update all my model descriptions a few time before and it takes a long time!

Im wondering what peoples thoughts are on what information should be included in the header and what in the footer? I tend to add as standard in my model descriptions

  • Information on Specific non Bambu filament I use
  • Some images of other related models I make
  • Patreon link
  • Boost Button
  • Membership Button

I think that would all be in the footer as extra information and leave the header off or have a little about me bit so people get to the model description fast. But having the stuff that helps creators at the end would limit its visibility.

Interested to hear people thoughts.

I think it’s a welcomed addition to the site. I think it shows that the MakerWorld team is listening to the community feedback. I know I’ve heard @MalcTheOracle and others request this before.

I may use it for the membership button only as I tend to “promote” related models at the bottom of the description for the given model I’m writing the description for.

I just hope it’s not an overused feature and designers think about how to keep it minimal, but that’s just my opinion.

You can only have ONE header and ONE footer template. Can’t differentiate models/collections that that would apply to… Cool if you want to promote ONE thing at a time and show totally unrelated things there (or have some signature), but that’s about it.

Yeah I think that’s the key. Get some info across but not be to on users face about it.

I see, good point. As you say it’s a standard one but maybe in the future they will allow for a few variations.

I did, I detailed the needs.

Unfortunately, this isn’t it.

One header and footer that is applied to all pages doesn’t really achieve anything for most people.

It will allow blanket “go here for my commercial terms”, but, little else.

I asked for a means of creating boilerplate snippets that could be inserted into pages as I saw fit and when updated, the pages on which that snippet was inserted show the refreshed content. Basic web page functionality.

I have groups of related content, different families of models that each need their own snippet.

This doesn’t do that.

I have over 750 models uploaded, I have lots of groupings to deal with, it is a manual nightmare right now, things get missed and sometimes it is far too hard to go through every single model, every single time.

This will not help many people at least nit in the ways most of us hoped it would.

I appreciate the effort that something was done, but, time was taken to craft the best functionality that was ignored.

Based on the questions I receive, people don’t read descriptions, let alone all the way to the bottom or I wouldn’t have to keep answering questions provided in the description.

The same goes for multiple images, many don’t bother looking past the first one or reading any annotations.

I agree. people don’t read the description at the best of times let alone to the end!

To your other point, maybe this is just an initial implementation and it would be relatively easy now to allow variations.

@MakerWorld Would this be possible?

No point using it now if that is the case then for anyone that actually could benefit from this type of implementation.

On a similar note @MakerWorld could we get a “Follow” button added to descriptions (and the Header and Footer) similar to the Boost and memberships button already.

It seems that the footers from the Creator center are not translated.

Here is a section from Quick and dirty TPU shirt print - THE CURE by Oxooxo MakerWorld: Download Free 3D Models as an example:

I enter all my text in german and have selected english to display MakerWorld.

The first Boost Me text is in the model description and is translated like the other text in the model description.

The second Boost Me text (changed a litte bit) is from the Creator center and is not translated.

That is not usefull and I’ll remove it soon. (I will keep it there some days. Maybe BL will have a look.)

Auf magische Weise funktioniert es nun ohne dass ich etwas geändert habe. :man_shrugging:

:+1:

Dann kann ich nun mit und mit die unterschiedlichen Boost-Me Texte in den Modellbeschreibungen los werden.
