Is there a way to use different support settings like how modifiers are used?
For example, modifiers allow you to add more infill in specific areas. Is there a way to do this with the computer-generated supports? Let’s say I’d like to have 1-2 walled support on this side of the model but have no walls on the support on the other side of the model.
I noticed the support setting disappears with modifiers, which is a shame. The setting is also not available when different parts/objects are selected.
I’ve tried modeling my own supports but I like the outcome of the computer-generated supports better.
You can’t really specify different types of supports but you can add support enforcers and blockers to add remove supports from different areas. Or paint where you want the supports specifically.
Right, I’m aware of the options you mentioned but it doesn’t quite help with my case. It’s too bad support options are not available by using modifiers. I wonder if it’s under development.
I have a similar question (I think) - In my case, I want to use rectilinear supports with angle X degrees on most of the part and the same rectilinear supports with X+90 degrees under specific sections. Is this possible?
The reason for my wanting to do this is: I’ve noticed that, under these specific sections for which I want to turn the supports 90deg, the “floor” (solid layer) of the part over that support area happens to be formed by lines which are parallel w/ the support direction. Thus, the floor quality is poor. In the other areas, the floor construction lines run perpendicular to the support walls, so quality is good. Turning the support direction for the entire part can’t satisfy both. Turning the support direction by 45-deg results in less-than-optimal results for both.
I’ll experiment with other types of supports, but the example I raise is not the only one - so, it’s more of a general question:
Can I enforce a certain type/orientation of supports in one area of a part (say, slim trees or rectilinear 90deg) and a different type and/or orientation on specific features of the same part (say, strong trees or rectilinear 0deg)?
Hi! In Cura it is totally basic thing to make a model be printed as a support, but I can’t find this option in Bambu Studio. Can you please help me to find it? I need this because I am printing large lithophanes with custom support structures.
If I’m following your question you should be able to do this by loading the “support” model in as a “support enforcer” and by setting the “support” to manual.
thanks! Yes, I have since realised that this is an option, however it seams to just make its normal supports within the model I attached as a support enforcer, so the support remained its normal, small size. Is there anything I can do to make the supports larger? Especially wider at the base for more stabilization.
