Cut without lose painting?

I was using a model that had separate parts that had different color filaments assigned and not colored with the paint tool. Cutting with models like that did work with the older version but do not work any more. You are correct, if the paint tool is used then the colors will disappear when the cut tool is used even with the older version of Bambu Studio.

I hate to resurrect a thread but wonder if anyone’s seen a fix for this? I’m using 1.10.1.50 and looks like the issue’s still there :frowning: Any workarounds?

seems that Olias is being sanctimonious at best. He gave no answer, but instead chose to criticize. There is no clear answer for this and maybe someone with his supposed vast expertice would have the answer to cut an object and retain the color schemes

Is there any update to this? I just did my first cut and…well…glad I saved first cause it destroyed an hour of painting. I’m no Bambu Studio 1.10.1.50

Right click on object, add negative part, solved!

I’m not sure what you mean. I haven’t used that function before but testing it out, it looks like the negative part only subtracts from the mesh.

Are you suggesting to duplicate the mesh then add apposing negative parts?

That doesn’t solve the issue because it would be too easy to misalign things. Also, with the cut function, a large positive of it is the auto generated connectors.

This doesn’t solve the issue with the paint colors being destroyed when using the cut tool.

I agree on both counts  @BambuLab maybe some feedback?

No I’ve got the same issue with the 1.10.2.76…

How is the autism? You are pretty rude and you will try to justify it as blunt.

how does that help you cut an item without losing its hand painted?

Its almost like it worked before, then they removed it. How is that not on the software developer?

I know my solution will not work in all use cases, but this worked for me:
If you want to just remove the bottom layers of your print making it more planar to print, you can add a part (a little cube for example), this will allow you to move your print below the bed, and the slicer will ignore this part in the actual print

My first post ever here, just wanted to say thank you as this did the trick for me.

Also, @Olias - take your issues elsewhere. As a new user this thread actually solved my problem. Your original response was unhelpful and unnecessary, as with each of your subsequent responses. Your incomprehension of why this question might be asked is your problem alone, this thread did actually serve a purpose and helped (me especially), so your “straightforward query” angle is invalid. Learn how to human better.
