Cyberbrick models and contests

Hi,

I would like to share and ask for your opinion regarding the following topic. When designing and uploading a cyberbrick project the verification time is much slower (which is shown after uploading the model, saing it might be 3 business days).

I wanted to enter my CyberBrick model into a contest, pressed upload on the last day before the deadline and realized that the verification will take longer than regular models and I would not be able to upload my model (I tried to, but you can’t submit a model before it is verified). I contacted support to ask about this and what would be a solution. They said to ensure fairness (which I understand) everyone has the same deadline. However I do not feel fair that if you upload something before the deadline, but they fail to verify it by the time you need to submit a model you are out of the contest. Due to this you do not have the same deadline if you design cyberbrick models for contests.

I proposed that you should be able to submit models which are pending verification and if it gets accepted (even after the deadline) it would put it in the contest because technically you uploaded it before the deadline.

I would love to hear your opinion on this matter.

Thanks

Create a ticket and explain the situation.

You would hope given the CyberBrick review period is a new concept that many do not know until they come to take part, that some understanding on the part of MW would occur.

Stranger things have happened.

With contests, the most likely time you will receive a positive bump in downloads is the very first day, quickly decreasing each day and flat lining as soon as another contest begins.

Entering a model that cannot be printed without non-printed parts further reduces any potential. Unless, the contest is specifically focused in that direction.

Good luck.

I have created a ticket after uploading the model, and noticing the long process, but they said that nothing can be done, there is no way to manually add a design to the contest.

As for the bump in downloads, that is understandable that more downloads occur at the start, but that does not mean that I can’t enter later. You need to impress judges who (hopefully) choose based on the design not by the number of downloads or when the model was uploaded.

MakerWorld in my opinion should make the verification clearer and probably faster. I am waiting for my design to be verified since Sunday, which has passed the 3 business day period.

Indeed, I have entered three contests where I was within the last three entries, and two of those were the last entrant.

Agreed.

They usually are late in all things.

If they say two days, think a week at least.

If they say a week, think in terms of months.

Looking at the results of the Arcade contest, one of the designs was a cyberbrick design (which was uploaded aso on the last day just like me), but the designer did not choose the option to mark it as a cyberbrick model, so the verification was probably instant, and listed the later approved cyberbrick model (with the configuration files) in the description. This seams unfair to me that with uploading the same design twice (one marked as cyberbrick and one not marked) gets accepted (and even given excellent participation award). I really hope future contests will be better.

Nice yeueu and I am not credited in
