Cyberbrick part confusion

Building the Cyberbrick Soccerbot model 1395987. Instructions on the assembly guide just before panel 46 call for a remote control receiver assembly shown in pic 1. I have a receiver shield from the Cyberbrick kit, as shown in pic 2. Is this the same? They don’t look the same.

There are two parts to the module, the core board and the shield, which have to assembled together. When purchasing them they are sold separately, except in the CyberBricks kits where they come already assembled.

Thanks. Is the same core board used on the transmitter?

Ron

Same core board on both the transmitter and receiver shields.

Do you always use a core for the transmitter and receiver? Appreciate your expertise!

The core board is the processor, the brain.

The receiver and transmitter shields are the specific parts used to easily connect up the related components.

A shield takes the pin outs from the core module and means you can quickly connect their respective parts like motors and joysticks.

Two identical shields, plug one into the receiver and the other in the transmitter respectively. If they are already connected, you do not need to do anything else.

If they are separate, make sure you orientate the core as instructed so it is pointing in the correct direction.

They get their instructions from the firmware and project updates when you get to that point.

Thanks for the info, but now further confused about how to connect and pair trans and recvr. I have green steady lights on both my trans and rcvr. But not getting anything on my android phone for connection. Bluetooth is enabled.I know you didn’t take me to raise (LOL), but would it be possible to connect with you by phone for additional advice? Would be willing to pay. Spent alot of money on all these parts for them to not work. Have been 3d printing for a couple of years (I am retired)with success, but this cyberbrick thing is difficult for this small brain.

Have you downloaded the required CyberBrick apps?

There is one for your desktop and one for your mobile device (phone or tablet).

Yep, did the one for my laptop. On the soccerbot model build. What am I supposed to do with the two json files. Also, as indicated, I don’t get anything on my Android phone about connecting to the trans or rcvr. Must be skipping a step.

The models all come with a config file, if you open it up using the app, it will automatically set the values for you in the correct app.

OK, got to the poin where the app indicarted pairing and both trans and rcvr lights keep blinking. Ten minutes later still blinking and nothing else’

Turn everything off, including the computer, for a few minutes, and then turn the computer back on when the CyberBrick app is running (v 0.40.0 or newer), and turn on the remote and vehicle.

Then pair again.

This app is useful for testing, but the mobile app with the config file is where you should have started.
