Decal Feature request

I have a Mosaic Palette for my other 3d printers that has one feature called stamps in their Canvas software that I miss in Bambu Studio. The ability to upload a bitmap that can be superimposed on the model, similar to a decal. See this video for an example:

Are there any plans for Bambu Studio to support similar functionality? It would be nice to also support vector formats as well in addition to bitmaps.

You can load a SVG file into BBS, it will give it thickness on import. Just scale it back down to what you require. All the individual part of the SVG will appear as parts in the object after splitting the model into parts where you can change their colours. I often do this.

I would like to add a little detail to this feature request. It would be awesome to be able to project raster and or vector images on any object that we are making and on to any surface flat or not when painting with color.

Autodesk has a program called Fusion that is free to use for non commercial uses below some low level of income. It’s a 3D CAD package that lets you draw all sorts of things but it also supports this feature of adding SVG files to models and not just standalone though you can do that too.

Inkscape is by Adobe, it’s also free, and does a great job of tracing bitmaps to turn them into SVG images. For those familiar with and have CorelDraw it’s very similar to that - a vector drawing program. It can create SVG files from whatever you draw in it.

It’s more to learn but that combination will let you make all sorts of colorful prints with these AMS-enabled Bambu printers.

Unfortunately I have to add that the last update to Fusion broke the ability to properly import SVG files to extrude into the color parts of a print. Autodesk has assigned a bug tracking number to it and is working on it at the time of this writing but we don’t know when it will be released.

Doesn’t the Bambu Lab slicer clear all colors when you add a part to it? It always does when I bring in a new part.

I’ve really been hoping this would be added as well. It’s not about the ability to turn a bitmap into a print like the SVG import. The OG poster is probably talking about the same feature I’m hoping for where you can kind of stamp color patterns and logos, etc ONTO a model as painting for color. Backwards engineering that on a meshed files in another app is painful compared to the ease of just positioning on the model in slicer. It’s great for things like cars, ships, etc where you want to say… add a set of colored stripes, a logo, etc.
