Decided to order and test BIQU Glacier Cryogrip plate

Figured, what the heck, it’s $24.

Have both an A1 and P1S. The Glacier is supposed to have a finer texture, 20% less grip strength with PLA and PETG than the Frostbite Cryogrip, but is useable with way more filaments. The comparison chart is posted below.

Right now I only have PLA PETG, ASA, ABD, TPU, Aero, and glow in the dark filaments. But am looking at getting a couple of higher temperature engineering filaments.

This was a pre-order. The plates are supposed to ship on the 15th with a 10-15 day shipping time (slow boat from China). So will be a while before I post anything on this.

I just got my Glacier plate in today, and the first print (at 35C) is incredibly promising. Visually the first layer looks like a smooth plate, but has a light texture to the feel. Grip strength was solid throughout the print, but it only took a small amount of pressure to release the piece.

I’m doing a Glacier test print right now as well. To be honest, it looks just like a cheap Begrint Epoxy Resin when it comes to surface texture. When looking at the specs I wonder where the ‘temperature advantage’ comes from, as I don’t see it.

I mean… PETG 60…75 degrees… Yeah, 60 is a bit lower. But will it work? (Testing now at 65).

Weird. Is my post now blocked or not? It was initially… So, it’s now unblocked?

I can see it now. I think for PETG it’s not particularly remarkable, but it works beautifully with PLA. I’ve ordered more of the grippier plate to be dedicated PETG plates.

Still waiting. They were out of stock on both the glacier and frostbite. The glacier didn’t ship until the 27th (from China), so will be a few more days.:face_with_raised_eyebrow:
