Desiccant Boxes for AMS 2 Pro

I’ve read that ASA is the only way to go for desiccant boxes inside the AMS 2 Pro because of the filament dryer. My new AMS was just delivered and before I begin, any thoughts?

I’ve decided no more desiccant boxes in the AMS. To hard to get them in and out. I’m just doing the spool center desiccant holders and so far I’m just printing them in PETG.

I printed mine in PC FR and they come in and out good. I only did the large 3 and not the 2 on the sides. My relative humidity will get down to 9% with those 3 and in a week all the beads still look orange. I’ve become a big fan of PC FR. It prints really easy, has high temp, no smell, its flame retardant, and only $54 a roll. I like using it on anything inside the printer or dryer. Makes me feel better with kids sleeping in the house.

I’ve never tried PC FR, partly because of the expense. I’m always within a few feet of the printer when it is running but thank you for the input. I appreciate the opinion.

I’m just the opposite - I find the spool holders a hassle and have never had a problem with those in the original AMS. I’m going to try PLA and PETG (mainly because I have the colors I want to use) and see what happens. Thanks for responding.

Out of those two I would definitely go with PETG. Someone posted pictures of PLA spools they printed all warped after running in the AMS for a dry cycle.

I printed my silica containers for the AMS 2 in ASA. It was my first print with the H2D. ASA was from esun, and printing was easy.

Thanks. I decided to try ASA, although I rarely use anything but PLA. I’m a little surprised that I had to use glue because I NEVER have problems that an Aquanet squirt doesn’t cure.
