Detaching Mid-Print on A1 Printer

Hello, I have a very annoying problem with my A1 printer. Prints that have a small contact surface with the build plate tend to fall off the bed once they reach around 2 inches in height — although it’s not a fixed height, it happens somewhat randomly. I’m using the stock textured PEI plate and printing with PLA.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Changed to several well-known filament brands.
  • Cleaned the bed with soap and water, then with IPA.
  • Reduced print speed — this helped slightly but didn’t solve the issue.
  • Changed infill type to gyroid and adaptive cubic.
  • Added a brim and adjusted the brim-to-object gap (usually, the print detaches from the brim, while the brim itself stays stuck to the bed).
  • Changed the bed temperature between 50–65°C.
  • Used Aqua Net hairspray — it helps, but still inconsistent.
  • Tried multiple stock print profiles.
  • Turned on Z-hop.

The only thing I feel might be causing the issue is that the nozzle seems too close to the model while printing, but I’m not sure how to increase that distance. I’ve leveled the bed multiple times for sure.

Brim with a smaller brim gap may do the trick. You’re settings above show a Brim-object-gap of 0.7mm. Try it with a zero gap, yes it will add to post processing but it’s better than a print failing. If you’ve tried zero gap then never mind, a different bed plate may be the better solution.

Personally, I use a Biqu Glacier bed plate and while it’s not as grippy as the Kdeav (sp) or Frostbite plates it has worked so well that I set my PLA print temps to 30c and it still sticks very well.

I tried what u said same problem unfortunately same issue this time the brim also came off

If you’re still having adhesion issues, stop using IPA as generally that is the cause if you’re properly washing the plate.
