Let me preface this with I’m new to 3D Printing. The Bambu Lab H2D is the first 3D printer I’ve ever owned. I waited to enter the 3D printing arena because I enjoy printing, not necessarily “repairing/working on” printers. I’m an IT engineer, so I’m pretty technical. I started a print last night for my wife, just a little book riser on makerworld. I came in this morning and the printer was idle and the chamber light off so I figured it was done. I went to take it out of the printer and when I opened the door, I noted that it had just printed the top of the shelf, not yet any legs. I saw no signs of print issues, the AMS still had filament for that job, the toolhead was sitting over the poop chute (normally about where it goes when it’s done) but the job was clearly not completed. I pulled the usb drive, went into the IPCAM folder, found the video and I can see it’s printing just fine, then the toolhead goes to the poop chute and the red light is flashing (you can see the reflection in the glass). I’m using Bambu filament (PLA BASIC), the regular default nozzles (.4) and I am very meticulous about keeping my printer clean. The piece that it did complete looks perfect to me. The only “guess” I have is that perhaps it lost bed adhesion but I can’t really tell because it’s unclear in the video. I’m an Engineer, so of course, I wanted to review the logs. I exported those from the printer, but after some research, apparently those are encrypted so I’m trying to figure out what methods you guys use to diagnose a failed print where there is no visual evidence to indicate what happened. Submit a ticket, upload logs and slicing results, hopefully they would tell you what happened. Currently there’s no way to inspect the encrypted log by ourselves. I’m glad that you have the IPCAM on. What is strange here is that it looks like there was a red light but then it was gone…?
Yeah, I thought that odd also. I was able to print it again without issue, so I’m still not 100% sure. My only guess is that it lost adhesion. It was a book riser for my wife’s ikea shelves, it’s pretty flat. I went back into my settings and realized that I didn’t use my “warmer bed” preset. As others have noticed, the bed temperature isn’t always as warm as we think it should be and I usually bump it up on my presets and missed one. I’m 99.9% sure it just lost adhesion as there’s no visible evidence of anything else. As I was able to re-print it, I’m not worried about it but was wanting to have that troubleshooting knowledge for any future issues.
